The thing to do is to not play with the EVIC info and not worry too much or overthink it... We went for years and years with this tranny without a digital temp reading and were just fine.

That is interesting...if the tranny has 6 gears, why not just make the gear ratios more of an even split across all 6 gears and have it be a 6 speed transmission?

We'd be able to tow like a 3.92 and get the highway mpg of a 3.21...

Amen dude, this "old" tranny (10 yrs) was my only hesitation in buying the '10, coming from an '05. Wow, they did a great job with the shifting logic, it is a whole new beast.

The ideal setup would be a true 6 spd, ala ford, something like:
1- 3.67, 2- 2.50, 3- 1.45, 4- 1.00, 5, 6 o/d

My suspicions is that for the new engine in 2012, they will have a 7spd auto, something like Mercedes has, with 5 gears to 1:1 and 2 O/Ds.

Perhaps I misled you about the 200 deg oil breakdown.

Here is the chart I referenced. Hope this helps.

You'd want to make sure that chart applies to ATF+4 before giving it credence for our RAMs. ATF+4 is a synthetic trans fluid that is supposed to have high temp capabilities. I don't know the specifics, but it is likely better rated than non-synthetic.
