Default Driving the New Ram and Ford F150's

Just want to start off, I am NOT a ford guy.

I went to a Ford Test Drive on Saturday, where I got to test drive Ford's 4 new engines. The 6.2 V8 (420hp) is pretty awesome, Here is a video of me racing the hemi and the Ford. Had I not spun tires I think it would have been closer.

This next video shows me in the Ram racing the little V6 that Ford has out...

The ram handled the best through the turns, as you can tell in this video. I was doing about 30-35mph going around these turns and didnt hit one cone.

This last video is just to give everyone a sneak peak of the new Ecoboost engine, which I found very impressive. 360hp and 420lb/ft torque. That thing is just bad. I never got to race the Ram/ecoboost, but it would have been a close race.

But as you can tell in this video, the handling on the fords still sucks. At the end I try to make a turn through the cones, and the wheels lock, taking out a couple cones.

The ecoboost is scary. 30mpg and being able to tow 11,300lbs. I got to tow a 6,500lb trailer with it, and it did pretty good, excellent for a V6 (twin turbo), but I still think the Ram would have outpulled it easily.

Just thought I'd share this with everyone, any comments are welcome.

I didn't hear any tire spin in the first video...as a matter of fact, I didn't even hear any rpm build up off the line. Not good, I don't like it and I refuse to accept defeat in the hands of someone else...how much did Ford pay you, lol!!!

All I am seeing for the new Ford 6.2L is 411HP, you say its 420HP. Which number is correct now? The 6.2L in the Raptor (6000lb truck) takes 7.3 seconds to get to 60, seems like the Ram should have beeen able to do that easily. Something does not seem right here.

I know that I am going to catch hell for this, but here it goes... I am a Ford guy.

It just so happens that Ford did/does not have anything comparable to the Ram Power Wagon. I am more of an off-roader than I am a trailer puller/hauler. A solid front axle is a must for me so I would not bother with any of the half-tons (Ford or Ram). A G.M. or import is not an option.

If off-roading and strength (solid front axle) were not important to me, and a half-ton would do, I would be all over the new F-150. The new 3.5L, 5.0L, and 6.2L engines are sweet. Sorry Ram.

Do not get me wrong. I LOVE my Ram Power Wagon. I just can not ignore the fact that the Ford F-Series trucks are good trucks. Not saying that Rams are not good trucks.

Let the flaming begin.

No flaming here friend...but if you are a ford man then you belong on a Ford forum, just saying. Same goes for that bull**** set of videos here..they don't seem appropriate to be on this forum to me! If these video comparisons would have been done with Dodge representatives on hand to represent the Ram, I bet the Ram would have victorious. The Ford 6.2 truck 0 to 60 times are not compatible to the Rams, and from what I've read, the 3.5 turbo is a tad quicker than the 6.2 from 0 to 60 so these vids are bogus. Dodge lovers like myself have no choice but to religiously defend our trucks and what we believe in. I like Ford as well...so does my truck, lol! The only way Ford trucks could ever compete with Dodge or Chevy performance was to turbocharge their engines. That being said, their non aspirated engines suck when it comes to performance. The modern Hemi produces more HP per CI than any Chevy or Ford, even more than the old Hemi. And that's what bothers me the most from these videos, the 0 to 60 times showing it beating the Ram. I don't care about the towing capacities, I don't compete with that and don't care to. I like the Ram for it's style and looks, and performances. Ford and Chevy both look like crap to me with Toyota coming in second to the Ram. People will soon see what the Hemi is capable of when they release the 6.4/475 HP for 2011. This motor is capable of an easy 550 HP. The Ford 6.2 is their modern version of the Boss 429 and using the same valve cover design but will never amount to anything and will prob have to turbocharge it like they did the lightnings, lol!

I believe in quality and style that matches my taste no matter what the brand is.

Good to hear about the Ford enhancements. Thanks.

Fair enough, I don't happen to think Ford trucks are bad ether. It seems they have a decent package but have been underpowered for soooooo long. Its good to have competition esp from an American manufacturer. Now if they would put the 6.2L in a RC that would be sweet.
