Because Chrysler knows that a Copper plug agrees with our motors more than a platinum plug does.
Interesting. You'd think that with the high capacity discharge coils on each plug that it would fire a lightning bolt across 3 counties from one stick o' wood to a nuther.

I think it was more COST then what the engine agrees with.NGK engineers see no reason for using a Platinum/Iridium plug other the COST.I asked many questions about such.Ask them. They were very helpful about the subject.Chrysler does do things on the cheap a bit more then Ford and GM.The price of their vehicles reflect this. I'm waiting for a few thousand more miles I have 26k and for the availability of the CORRECT plug from NGK.I'll let you all know if I have issues. Correction. The NGK plug is not a Platinum/iridium.They are only Platinum.Called their Laser cut series.

Meh. I have seen first hand how these motors run on a platinum plug and I don't like the idle. If you're happy with it, then cool, but it's not for me.

I did extensive research with my 5.2 magnum across about five different plugs and with that motor and the new Hemi, copper seems to out perform a plat plug. I really don't care what NGK has to say about it. They are there to sell you a product and that's it.

I don't think copper has a thing to do with it.I ran Autolite 3923s in my 5.2 they are a non copper cheap plug.Performed better and less spark knock then with the cheap Champions it came with.I don't think NGK cares if you buy either and or as long as its one of their plugs. Both are labeled OE.We'll see.I'm waiting to replace mine and see how it runs.

Autolite 3923's ARE copper. That's the cover up plug of choice for the magnum motors.

The reason everyone loves them is because they are one heat range cooler than the factory plug hiding up that pinging that you had from the blown plenum gasket.

Yeah it's the dealer in College Station (Lithia), took it in this morning and got all the plugs changed... total costs w/ tax was $162.43. I wasn't gonna argue with the man, I had even let it slip that every other shop around town wanted $300+. I confirmed the price again this morning when I dropped it off, just to make sure that I wasn't going to get surprised when I picked it up, but no, he was right. The mechanic said it was a *itch to get to some of the plugs, I was like yeah, why do you think I brought it here... $300+, yeah I'm thinking I might try it, but at half that price, you go right ahead =).
They did tell me when I picked it up that I would need a throttle body cleaning, etc. in a little while @ $135, but that includes line flush and other things as well. I was like cool, I'll bring it in a month or two when I get my new bored throttle body... mechanic said since hey would be "cleaning" the old one anyway, he would just throw on the new one for no charge! I'm starting to like my local dealer a lot more.

Sure don't look copper. There was a lot more difference then a heat range colder.A lot shorter plug was obvious. In fact shorter and I think took a bigger plug socket. They are the plug for Neon's.Totally different then the plug thats called for in a Magnum.

Yup. It's copper.

Don't know about the whole Neon thing or not though.

Autolites 3923 are the single and dual cam Neon plug.Dosen't even look faintly like they would match with a Magnum plug.Anyhow Magnums are/were dogs and are no longer. My modified Magnum didn't compare to my stock Hemi
