My EVIC is showing about 14.3 miles per gallon for a mix of 70% highway and 30% city driving here in the winter. This is for the Montreal area. I usually run at 55 mph on the highway and I use the cruise a lot. It is more economical than my foot.

I don't know if that is Imperial or US gallons. I always assumed it to be US.

Your mileage on the 27th wasn't far off of my EVIC mileage assuming the unit is is US gallons.

What part of Canada you from???

I'm getting about 8 mpg in town. So lets define "in town" in my case that's start the truck, drive 1/4 to 1 mile, make my way through the fast food drive up window, then return home 1/4 to 1 mile and park. Hence the 8 mpg. Out on the highway I'm still getting 17-19 mpg and more normal in town driving around 11-13.

I am from western Ontario, right beside the Manitoba border.

My "in town driving" consists of driving from my house to work & back, 3-4 kilometers each way with 4 stops signs.
By the sounds of it your truck is just as bad as mine, is this just the way they are? I thought I could expect more from a truck that is 15 years newer in technology than my old truck. My old truck would consistently get 9 mpg in the same town driving.

Chezz. This thread about fuel mileage and NOW you tell us your old truck only got 9mpg in the same conditions.Just what do you or did you expect from a cold engine driving 3 to 4 kilometers with 4 stops! This NEW truck appears to take more fuel cold then your OLD truck. Its also what? A hundered horse more? A MOPED would not do much better! My INTOWN ATLANTA GEORGIA driving bad traffic is maybe just maybe 11/12 and its nowhere near the poor conditions you describe your doing.Get a bicycle and apologize to the guys at DODGE DEALER that has looked at your truck and wasted their time.

4 kilometers with 4 stops or 12 kilometers with 12 stops, whats the difference, it is still "CITY DRIVING". A Buddy of mine does exactly the same driving as I & gets 500 kilometers to a tank of gas compared to my 250!!!!!!!!!! Summer or winter, does not make a difference with my truck, still the same mileage! Yes this truck has more than 100 ponies than my old truck but then again they didn't put a window sticker on my old truck stating that it would get 25 miles per gallon hwy & 17 fricken miles to the gallon city!!!!
So the only one who should be doing any apologizing should be you for ignorance!!!

Your city driving is far from NORMAL.Use some common sense.Winter makes a big difference to everyone else. But even in summer your engine is not heating up and staying in open loop(running RICH) in the distance your going with 4 stops.I bet a VW diesel would not do much better in the conditions you FINALLY described.Get another truck like a Ford,Chevy or Dodge of the same horsepower and you'll still get the same mileage.Nothing is wrong with your truck.

I'll say this one last time.....
You need to park out front of the dealer. Get a protest permit if you need them up there. Make a big sign saying your getting no help at this dealer.
Buy yourself a big box-o-joe at a Dunkin' Donuts and have a sit in.

You are just allowing them to dictate to you, what they are not doing to help you with this issue. YOU need to dictate to them that this will not be tolerated. 1/2" taller tire is not going to affect your mileage as much as you are claiming it has. Time to step up and change the defense to an offense.
Play the game.....Get the TV station involved, Twitter, Facebook, local papers....If you do nothing with the dealer except let them show you the door, you will just be their little bitch.....

Or get yourself to a dyno-shop and find out what is going on. Paying now is going to save you later in fuel costs.

Now get your war paint on and go git 'em.

I agree with you %100!!!!.....Er, the problem is trying to get up enough nerve to do it as the dealer is treating me exactly the same as one of the previous posters (houndogg) , with the exception of being rude & obnoxious, hmmm, starting to think he is a dealer as well!!!!!! lmao!!!
I will use your suggestion as a last resort as I would like to solve this problem amicably.
Thanks to everybody except houndoggy for your input on my mileage dilemma.
I will put this post to rest as it has been active for too long already, my apologies.

My first thought is, you bought it used, then put new tires/rims on it. Have you verified to make sure the odometer is calibrated properly? I don't recall seeing that in any previous post. That would be an obvious factor. You could also check if you have mile-marker posts. My Jeep is running 31's, but my speedo gear has not been corrected. Counting mile marker posts, I have discovered that my odometer is about 1/10th off. For every mile I drive, only .9 is registered on the odometer.

Second thought, and unfortunately this one would cost you a little money, but have you considered seeing if you could rent a truck similar to yours and drive it the same as you do yours for a week, then check MPG? That should give you an idea if its due to the conditions in which you drive or the truck. Even if you can't get a Dodge, I'd think any V8 truck would be close - I mean, if you get 12 from any other V8 and only 7 in yours, something ain't right.

Other than that, I'm at a loss...

Oh, some other things came to mind. Do you park it outside - is it possible someone is stealing your gas, or is it possible there is a leak somewhere? Do your diffs have enough gear oil in them? Is it proper weight oil? Do you have a brake caliper hanging (does it pull when you brake)? I'm thinking if the engine runs fine and is not throwing codes, is something else in the drive train creating extra drag - thus the low mpg numbers?
