The manufacturer and/or dealer can be fined up to $10,000 if there is NO window sticker on the car OR if there is incorrect information on this sticker and if pre-knowledge of incorrect information can be proven, you also have a criminal case of theft by deception. Also, as per the Monroney Act, Caveat Emptor would have absolutely no bearing.

I would imagine that the dealer is offering to buy it back and not just put the items in because by law, the sale was not legal...

And Moose, I'd make them give me one hell of a deal on a new truck if I were you...

Youre right, it has to be with the car... however read the actual law, like you already said you have to PROVE that the intent to deceive was there, which it doesnt seem to be (expecially since the dealer realizes the problem).

You have to remember that every law can be interpreted differently. In this case he has a sticker with a VIN matching his truck, paperwork, and equipment (including some obviously missing)... and this paperwork most likely matches the order from the dealership. When all is said and done good luck proving that was intentional. There is no where that I can find in these books that says technically the sale of the truck was not legal, it seems as far as the dealer knew the sticker was correct prior to and during the sale.

Yes he's entitled to resitution, but by no means a new truck. Fix it yes they should, BUT fined, yea right... once out of court it would never reach 10k anyway. Chrysler is notorious for having incorrect stickers, and they have blamed it on software problems in the past, this is why they are never found liable for jacked up information. Most dealer get the issues rectified quickly to maintain their image...

Either way, lesson learned... pay attention to details next time, and good luck, like Hammer said you better get a helluva deal!

MOOSE,
if they offer to buy the truck back, beware, the dealer in the house always wins. You might end up with a less`r valued truck...!
And take your time to make sure the next truck is 100% right BEFORE you drive off the lot.
Ther`s a good reason why some of us call these places "STEALERSHIP`S"

....AND good luck...!

Agreed! Make sure that if they buy it back you get the options you want, not the ones they want to give you on your new truck. I would fight it big time....

Yes you have to turn the switch on to activate the inverter, it also has the icon on it.

They screwed him from day one. He has all these options missing compared to the window sticker. That means the sticker price was higher than it should be. So I bet he paid more than he should. People please check it before you buy it.

You last sentence says it all. When you bought the truck did you look at any of the paperwork? I had my window sticker before the truck, I downloaded it from the dealership online and verified the vin and pretty much looked to see if the obvious were there. As far as rear seats I thnk they only come 60/40 . I could be wrong. You do have some heavy duty stuff like the rear end and the suspension, heavy duty shocks even. That stuff does not come free.Well good luck, I imagine it is gonna be easier to sell you a new truck then add all the stuff missing.

Sorry Guys, Ive been workin 16 hr days, and had no time to sign on. After dealing with the dealership for nearly 2 hours, I finally got the phone number to call Chrysler and make a claim. Chrysler is still looking into it, to see if anything will be done. The dealer also stated that there was an additional "$800" rebate on the truck, which was probably for the lack of options, and before they gave me Chryslers claim number, they offered me and additional $840 check.

Between the two, thats $1640, which is over half of the cost of the outdoorsmans package. I, however, Denied the check, until Chryslers claim center gets back to me. I do not want them to see me take the check as a form of reimburstment for the options, and then not do anything to my truck.

72combo - I did check and see if the major things were there, but this, atleast in my opinion, were all pretty small things, for the exception of the center console.

I do want to thank you guys for your advice, and help with this matter. Its pretty sh***y going into a dealer with no info on laws, or anything else. Thats why I love this site.

Thanks again guys, and I will update again when I know more from Chrysler.

Well here's the final verdict on the truck.... after a long process of jumping thru hoops Chrysler has narrowed down my options to 3. I can either have the truck bought back from me, in which case I will be able to buy a new truck, with the correct options on it, I can have the options that are missing installed on my current vehicle, or I can receive $3,000 as a rebate for the options missing.

I plan on option one, where I can get a new vehicle in place of my old one. Now I just need to get some time to go and look at some new trucks.

Thanks for your help and advice guys. I appreciate it.
