What about replacing factory parts with factory parts, I don't suppose you make any money doing that?
So ther you go, asking me questions and then in the next sentence trying to answer them for me.

1) aftermarket CAN be sometimes more expensive than factory, depends on how many bells and whistles you want with it. (most bells and whistle cant even be used) Most aftermarket add-on`s are NOT plug and play either, ther`s where it gets expensive too. In the end, the factory OEM parts will NOT void your warrantee... aftermarket has proved time and time again, that it WILL void your warrantee, not something i`m willing to risk again. And alot of people will add-on aftermarket because they just DONT know any better. They can be easily misled by greed...!!!!!

2) 30yrs experience tells me that alot of people go aftermarket remote start because MOST average people dont even know that the factory remote option is even available at the time they buy their vehicle. Another point to aftermarket remote starters are people putting them on their USED automobiles. The people that "KNOW" the remote starter is an option when they buy a new vehicle, will almost add it on to the vehicle 95% of the time.

3) aftermarket reliability...???? Go put your time into a dealership for over 30+yrs, then you`ll answer your own question about reliability

4) replacing faulty factory parts, the dealer has to pay their tech`s, regardless of warrantee vs customer pay. I make the bucks either way.

If i have explained enough to you, then lets try to get this thread back on track now

Actually, i really like aftermarket shiit, i make a ton of money fixing all the fugged up vehicles after you hackers fugged them up...!!!!!!

And firther more, this thread was specifically about REMOTE START, not ALARMS
Now go take your meds and chill out

I am going down no road with you. You claim 30+ years working at a dealership. This means nothing to me as you are not a subject matter expert on remote starts.
You have made several incorrect accusations about aftermarket equipment. I will not be pointing these out because the thread is off topic.

What made me go with the factory addon route was the simple fact that I dont like alot of keys etc in my pocket. The Mopar one come with 2 new keys with the remote start button on it. I also gave them my old keys and they programmed them all for me. Now I have a remote start and 4 total keys just incase. Cost me a total around $350 parts/labor everything.

On a side note I have had aftermarket remote starts etc in other cars and have had no problems with them either. All depends on the quality of the product. I always went with either the mid or high end Viper stuff. But this adds an additional Keyfob to the key chain that I didnt want.
