USB ports on 2011
I apologize in advance for the lack of knowledge. I have the basic radio with the one cd capacity. I plugged in a flash drive and it just plays the same song over and over again. In addition I can't figure out how to skip songs. This is just driving me crazy.

Just picked up a 2011 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie. Same issue, the iPod in the glove box got an "error occured" message, a few times, then worked once, then the error message a bunch of times, worked once, and hasn't worked since.
Has there been any updates to this that anyone knows about?

I believe you are correct, I have the Nav in my truck and USB in glove box, NO nav in Avenger (POS) and only USB in the front of stereo.

As i was walking around the dealer lot during my last oil change i noticed the 2011's have a USB port in the top glove box. My questions are dose the USB port connect to the RER radio, and what functions dose it provide? My other question is can it be retrofitted to the 2009 and 2010? When i asked thees questions to my dealer and the parts department they had no idea.

Just an update to my first post on this.
Talked to the dealership again and they still are waiting for a fix from Apple or from Chrysler. I take that as no one cares and just deal with it. Have had the problem for months now and no fix in site. If anyone has heard different or have a fix I would love to hear it.
Thanks!

I have a 2011 with the new radio (RBZ). You guys might want to have a look at this if you haven't yet.
The USB port on this (RBZ) radio is for flash drives only. No iPod/iPhone control capability. The USB port in the glove box is for iPod/iPhone control compatibility. I've tested it with my flock (1G Nano, 5.5G iPod "Classic", iPhone 4), and I agree it's flaky. Long to load, prone to error, and when it doesn't error, and finally loads, control is slow, and "alpha search" is disabled which makes it useless for me (I have over 10k songs on my classic).
As such, I bit the bullet and filled the 30GB drive which took forever. I used a 4GB stick, and it probably took nearly an hour for each load. Over the course of a couple of days (I work from home), I got it done. I love it. If it had a larger drive (or WiFi sync, one can dream), I'd be thrilled.
BT streaming works well when the device is "locked" as taylor10 mentioned. If you need to skip/change tracks frequently, this is going to drive you nuts. Use the AUX port and forget about BT. I use BT to stream streaming audio (such as MLB radio) and it's fine for that - there is no reason to "wake" my phone.
I installed the update that came available around April, the one that "enabled" the Sirius TravelLink functionality, but it had no impact on my iPod/iPhone port/streaming issues. According to the link above, there is an update coming. By then we'll be wanting iPhone 5 functionality

My truck gave me some problems when I first tried my ipod but I havent had any issues since. The problem I have is that sometimes when one song ends the next song will play just a second or two and then stop and start over. It shouldn't be so difficult to get the devices to work with each other.
