Default Major draft when turning steering wheel

I typically run my defrost all the time in winter. I don't use the regular heater hardly ever. My problem is that when I go around a curve or turn in somewhere I feel a big draft coming from under the dash somewhere.

Its as if there is a vent open or something but the manual doesn't mention anything about vents.

Does anyone else have this issue?

man i thought i was going crazy, i myself have noticed that too...!
My truck is a 2010 QC 4x4 Sport Hemi.
Heater issue is also effected by gas pedal pressure, and coasting down hill or up hill. (Defrost mode only..!)
Heat will be hot, and then cold all of a sudden for no reason and feeling a COLD draft. (no trapped air in coolant system either)
My bet is that dodge is still using their OLD dumb azz technology by using engine vacuum to control the fresh air door.
Anyone else noticing this with their truck...?

Not hi-jacking the thread, i`m just sayin.... alot of quality issues with this truck...!!!
I`m hearing alot of rattles lately in the body AND the suspension (i dont go offroad 4 wheelin either)
$45,000 & 14,000 miles...WTF...!!!!!!!!! I knew i shoulda bought a ford truck.
Time to go shopping in the spring while this thing is still running...!!!

Goodbye I am sure the Ford guys will love to hear all your whining about your crappy Dodge, I know more guys with new Fords with Diesel engines that have had to have them rebuilt or replaced and others with these huge tow rating but when they actually put that load on them they can't make it up a small hill. Anyway adios been a slice, cheerio and all that stuff. Wait till you see how much you will lose on that truck because nobody pays 45 grand so remember they go by what you paid, you will see.

I have not noticed it on my 07, but my 95 used to do it, till i figured out that the cool air and warm air stratified into layers, and when I turned the cool air would move to the opposite side of the truck, then slosh back just like water would do. I know it sounds weird, but what can I say.

Funny thing is, nobody mentioned anything about a diesel in here, so you are comparing apples to oranges.
And i checked out some 2011 fords, pretty dam impressive to say the least, and the heaters dont have any hot/cold draft issues.
I didnt pay $45,000 for my truck, thats just what the window sticker was.
(same comparable 2011 ford is now $5,000 cheaper than my dodge was when i bought it last yr)
When i look at window stickers, that just gives me a place to start haggling with the actual buying price.
Window stickers are good for 2 things, seeing what options the truck has and beat the dealer down on the MSRP price.
Nobody pays actual window sticker price, if a person does, then they aren`t educated very well.
As for trade-in value, dealers are the winner everytime, just depends on how much you let them F_UCK YA

Oh, yeah, and the next truck i buy, surely WONT be a dodge......so "adios been a slice, cheerio and all that stuff" back at ya

Well, rather that sit and whine, I will post something that may be helpful to the original poster.

Did you ahve the recall performed for your defrosters? It is a flash, and in some cases replacing gears in your blend doors/duct work.... The issue was with the original flash it would "close the doors to tight", to the point it would begin to strip the gears and the doors could then flap around... This could affect what vents the air is going through and the temp.

Also, one question for you.... Why do you drive with the defrost on all the time in the winter? The defrost will run your AC compressor as well, vs. if you just have the floor on the compressor will not run. Running the compressor with defrost is by design to get it some use in off season, but to run it all the time seems bad to me. Just throwing that out there.

Thanks for the info about the compressor. I didn't know that. I guess I need to use the heater more often. I don't think I had the recall work done. I'll have to check and see. Thanks again for the info.

I will throw in my experience here also. I had the same issue as the OP and never had time to get it to the dealer. I then got hit by a deer and took it to my dealer to get fixed and while it was there they performed the update to the HVAC or whatever for it breaking the gears and now that draft is gone.

I know everybody has gripes about this and that on there trucks... I run a lot of miles 150-250 per day!!! My truck 09 crew hemi is a GREAT truck 86,000 miles. Gas miliage is good, ride is GREAT . Recalls, RTT's every comp. has them. If you have a good dealer no worries.. Most peolpe that really gripe about one thing or another, actually have another gripe all the time about something. When I bought mine in Feb 09 they were taking anywhere from 12-14000 off of a 38,000 truck . Went to ford and G.M at that time , no one could match it , and the lifetime or the maxcare . I pull a pop up or pon toon , work trailer .. There all under 5,000 #'s. Ive seen guys with a 1/2 ton ford or gm or Toyota and say , mine will tow 10,000 #s????? Who would tow 5 tons with a 1/2 ton . ????
Just my 2 cents

I tow 9k pounds several times a year with mine and it does a great job. Thats like asking who would tow 10 tons with a 1 ton truck and i'm betting several people will say that they do it all the time.

My question to you is why wouldn't you tow 5 tons with a half ton truck if you only did it a few times a year and the truck was rated for it.
