AMSOILS 25k oil change interval is ONLY with oil analysis.Read the fine print.Otherwise its 15k I believe. But read the info on the oils. To keep any warranty's intact oil change intervals are to be done as per the owner's manual. www.amsoil.com

It doesn't matter on Amsoil anyways. The viscosity you put in today will not be the same viscosity when you take it out. There was a few tests done on it where a 5w-30 weight oil went into a 350 small block motor, was driven for 15,000 miles with 3,000 mile oil analysis intervals. By the end of the 15,000 miles, that 5w-30 oil was a 15w-40 viscosity... Not an issue on non MDS equipped motors, but it is a major issue with those that are.

Personally, I run mobil1 5w-20 with a Wix filter on 5,000 mile change intervals.

I use whatever the dealer puts on in now...I got free oil changes for the first three years from Chrysler...will change to mobil 1 oil and K&N filter like I have done in all my current and previous cars...The only things is that I have to keep reminding the Service Rep at the dealer that services on the truck are at every 6K miles or 6 months, not every 3k.

I've been using Penzoil Plantinum, but the more I read about different oils, the more I think I'm gonna switch to Mobile1 on my next change. Plus it's the offical oil of NASCAR...lol! I also use the K&N Extended life filter or tough filter or whatever it's called.

A full synthetic is your best bet.

I agree with Laramie and have seen multiple tests that Amsoil did indeed significantly gain in viscosity over extended use. Great for longevity, BAD for MDS!

I mostly stick with whatever 100% true synthetic is on sale when I need an oil change. To date, I've used Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Valvoline, Castrol Syntec & Castrol Edge. MY filter of choice is a Wix (NAPA Gold) but I've used Mobil 1, Purolator and K&N when they came free with an oil purchase.

I usually change every 5k miles...

From what I have read.www.bobistheoilguy.com Mobil ! is a OK oil.Lots are faithful to it. Its far from the best. I call it a middle of the pack synthetic. But I'd rather use the Penzoil Platiumn. I have Mobil ! at this time in my Corvette but once I'd done with free oil changes I doubt I'll use it again. Lots of oil analyst keep showing high iron content with Mobil 1. Its been discussed to death on the oil guy site. I'll end up with a Amsoil product in the Vette or a Penzoil if I keep the car. The only reason its on a G.M. oil cap or Nascar is Mobil paid a lot of money for such plus it is easy to find retail and purchase.

You completely missed that one.

There isn't an issue with synthetic oils and MDS motors. There is an issue with Amsoil and MDS motors. Savvy?
