Default need some adivce on dealership servicing

I have a thread going in the general discusions but I don't think that area gets much traffic. Please take a minute and check the thread out and give me some advice

basically my windsheild and rear window were not installed properly and need to come off and put back in the right way. They leak. Dealer said its a HUGE job and they might not do the work. They said they will probably pay someone else to do the work. I am concerned about this and don't want to get burned. Truck is under warranty still

Most dealers don't do glass work themselves, I would be happy that they want to ahve a specialist do it.

I've had my front windshield replaced on my Dakota when I bought it new back in '02, basicly the same reason, leaking water, and they to as well hired an outside service to do the work of installing a new windshield at the dealership.

The rear window in my new Dakota (back in 2000) was leaking, the stealership sent it over to a local glass company to do the work. It's been 11 years since it was done and never had a problem. Plus it didn't cost me a cent. As long as they use a reputable glass company and cover it under warranty you have nothing to worry about.

The dealer does not specialize in glass repair, now I might be inclined if I need door glass to take it to the dealer since they should know how to disassemble the door properly. Now windshield and back light glass think about it glass companies do this all day everyday and most have been around for years and years, so they must be doing it correct. At the factory the kids working on the line don't care if the robot missed a spot of urethane glue a few inches long the windshield will still go on and stay on.Might get missed in water test also then you get it. I would prefer the dealer take it to a reputable glass company,in Canada we have Apple Auto Glass, Standard and a think Speedy auto glass, they have all been around here for ever they move around a bit but so do I.

In fact the dealer doesn't have to take it. They come to them. I have had customers stay and watch the repair or replacement. There is always the chance that the front glass might crack. All the times I ever warned a customer of such it never happened but the possibility is there. I'm surprised the leaks are at the urethane as that is normally not where it is.Be thankful in a way cause where its leaking is a lot simpler repair then lots of other areas.Like body seams and such.

Well the day I left it at the dealer he said he would stick a smoke machine inside the truck to make sure they find every leak. SO I am reslly hoping this is it...
