Tire Falls Off. Near Collision. Advice?
I think maybe they are referring to the potential for damage to the front end as well after veering wildly across the road while missing a wheel and striking a curb at 50-60 km/h. Like I said. I am no mechanic but I think the potential to have even minor steering component damage exists.
After they fix it. Put it in gear and drive it threw the showroom window. Then tell them it wouldn't stop. Lol then your even. There since old jeep says you can't sue. Then I get a new truck from those retards.
Well I know I hit it with force because it was the first thing that started slowing me down. It happened in such quick succession to the wheel falling off and swerving across traffic I hardly had time to hit the brakes, just take my foot off the accelerator. I didn't really get a good look at it, it was pouring rain and on a busy main roadway so I couldn't really stand in the street and take a good assessment. Where I came to rest my front passenger wheel was sitting 3-4" off the ground and covered in mud
Like I said, this dealership has historically been very good to me so I really should just wait and see what they do. I was just curious if there was a typical Chrysler method of compensating customers for their employees negligence.
Chalk it up to the reality that life isn't fair, and thank God that this didn't end up a tragedy on the news.
You can't sue for things that potentially could have happened, only for what actually did happen. They would be liable for any and all damage caused by their negligence.
Anything they do over and above repairing the truck is gravy...

I am by no means saying I think I have a million dollar lawsuit on my hands, but I would hope that in addition to inspecting every single thing that could possibly have been affected and fixing any and all damage not matter how minor that maybe they might give me a free detailing or 2 or 3 free oil changes as a sorry we could have injured or killed you, put you out of your vehicle for however long and leaving you with a truck that may be close but will never be perfectly the way it was (because let's face it after something like this there's bound to be a little something somewhere they miss). On top of that you think they may want to retain my business and limit bad word of mouth.
Got to ask why are you so focused on such dribble as 2-3 oil changes or a free detailing? Yours is an 09 Ram. You have a life time power train warrenty. Why not ask for an extended bumper to bumper warranty if your concerned the truck won't ever by right.
We all make mistakes. If you are truely concerned why would you ever go back there for service?

The one question you should be asking if you have to pay anything to get it fixed, as you drove the truck off the dealers lot. The dealer can claim you could of done something to cause the problem.
