I agree. The factory stuff flows pretty good.

The AFE has a smooth intake tube and uses stock box with fender intake vent. It just extends the sides up as heat shields and you get a huge cone filter, oil free design. Not sure of any noticeable performance increase since I did it after the tuner but it sounds great!

It's the same air box as the 3rd gen. The tube doesn't look to restrictive to me. But I can't say on the 4th gen since I don't have one. There is no noticeable butt dyno increase on the 3rd gen. 8hp is what K&N claims. And like the 3rd gen there is no separate tune in the Predator for a CAI on the trucks like on the cars because there is not enough increase in airflow to lean out the mixture.
It's all personal preference really. They do make more noise due to the open filter.

Cold Air Intake means just what it says...to breath cold air and the whole kit plays a part to acheive this. Which ones out there are better, I only know from what I hear. But they are worth the performance gains IF you can get a true CIA. To save arguement as to what the definition of a true CAI is, go to the Kenne Belle website to get an understanding and see the dyno numbers on paper for yourself. They need cold air for their superchargers to work, they know the dynamics of them and they're pros at it!
