Default Dingy towing and wiring

I have a 2011 Ram 3500 quad cab for towing behind my motorhome. My question is what is the best and safest way to wire the rear lights? I don't like mag towing lights!

Welcome to DF. First, before anything else, please read this.

I will move this to the 4th gen section (2009+ Rams).

You are towing the Ram with a motorhome, correct?

Default Towing the 3500

The 2011 3500 can be flat towed without and modification. I am looking for rear lights on the back of the truck. I keep the tailgate down as my CanAm quad is in the bed.

On 1/2 tons, there is a white wire that is sticking out of the harness with shrink tubing in front of the spare tire on the drivers side. That is where my camper shell gets its middle brake light signal from. When the truck ignition is off, this wire is dead (isolated from the brake signal that is received from the pedal switch). Wire from the tow vehicle brake lights to this wire and you should be OK. I would try to put +12 volts to this wire and see if the lights come on. This assumes you have a common ground.
