Default loud dash clicking

so about a month ago when i would turn on the A/C full blast off the bat i would get a loud clicking noice from the dash. i looked into it and thought it was a sticking accuater of some sort. Now when i turn my truck on it clicks weather i have anything on or not. first it will click about 3 times 6 to 9 clicks to a burts, then it waits for about 3 minutes and clicks again about 6 times 6 to 9 times a burts. its annoying and im affraid there might be something seriously wrong. Any info to help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a recall for the heat/ac door actuator. Bring it to the dealer.

yes, welcome to my world on this. Same exact stupid problem here. Haven't got it fixed yet since another member did and apparently the dash needs to come apart to get to the blend doors and it may be a +1 day labor job. I know there was a recall for the HVAC flash update and actuator test but I never received any other one. I had this done a year ago but I guess I was lied to or the damage was done to the blend door or actuator already.

Hopefully it is covered with some sort of recall, I am at 53k and only have the lifetime powertrain warranty left. This could be a killer labor charge if not covered. Hopefully next week I can take it in since I plan on being off work for 2 days if they keep the truck.

Well it's a one day job if your dealer has the parts on hand. I had to wait, then they did the wrong thing and had to tear down dash. It was warrantied, I am under 3 years and under mileage but also have extended Gold warranty also so? Good luck, take it in tell them diagnose and if it's not covered either tell them to fix it(get a price) if it is of course get it fixed. They have to tear down the dash just to diagnose it in some cases not to scare you but..I am sure they have done enough now it is a recall I believe. Wasn't told that but tierod ends were. To think of it I have had several things done...wow so glad warrantied.....I am considering adding some time to my warranty.

Talking Not good

It appears some dealers will perform the flash and not do the door actuator fix. This is quick money for a tech. Flat rate is just that. I had the flash and the actuator issue became apparent at a later date which sums up a partial fix on the TSB at the onset due a quick flash and the dealer not taking the time to do it right. Dodge is having an exorbitant amound of problems with el cheapo door actuator DC motors.

Found this, here is what we are dealing with guys. I had this K17 recall done about 1 year ago but they probably just reflashed and did not replace actuators if it is behind dash.

KDDS,

K-17 is the recall number. Even if the recall was done just a year ago, if the same part has failed again in that short time it should be covered. The dealer should handle that for you. If the dealer does not handle it then I would recommend calling Chrysler Customer Assistance to get them to take care of it for you. It's one thing if it fails years later it may be questionable as to if it would be covered, but a year? You should not have to pay for it yourself if it is indeed the same problem as the recall re-appearing.

Just got off the phone with Chrysler because my dealer told me it was a one time fix. They said its good for 10 years from the date of purchase and it can fixed as many times as possible. Additionally I talked to customer care about other issues and they said the new commitment to repair their reputation they will do what ever it takes to fix the vehicle. They authorized a rental car for me so I can take it to a different dealer an hour and half away AND filed a complaint on their behalf based on the conversation. Pretty happy about that.
