I was originally told that I can't add an aftermarket controller but still managed to find a connecting pigtail p/n 68949133AA. Seems that some truck now have only one connector? Does anyone have experience with this?
The pig tail is 68049133AA. It can be used with an aftermarket brake controller. Mopar also sells a kit with the controller and trim bezel needed. 2 different color bezels come in the kit so there is one to match either color dash. Part number 82212548. But this kit is designed to only work with trucks that have 2 connectors...

Part number 82212548 Will this work with an 09? I have the tow package too. Been on some sites and it only lists it at 2011-2012.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on it, but wanted to make sure before I deal with a $200 mistake.

Thanks!

Best I can tell, will only work on 2010-2012...

The OEM trailer brake controller can be added to an '09, it just takes a little more work, and a few more parts.

Default 2012 SXT can't use this

Note that the 2012 SXT is equipped with only one under dash connector. Dealer tried and install of this Mopar controller yesterday but it could not get a power feed. Aftermarket controller is left as the only option.

Ironsides,
I am both glad to see your post but not so glad, I just bought a brake controller that was listed for a 2010 and up because I was pretty sure that I read on a different thread that it would work on my truck (09' 1500 Laramie 4X4 with tow package and a blue connector under the dash) but it didn't mention anything about needing any extra parts can you please elaborate on what extra parts I would need for my truck?

This is what I know I need so far:

1) Brake Controller
2) Connector (I thought I only needed one but I might need 2)
3) Bezel
4) Take it in to the dealership to have them update it so that it will show up on the EVIC

Am I right? I am about to order the connector(s), does anyone have the connector part number(s)? (I am not trying to be lazy just wondering if someone has them handy). Is this the "pigtail" part number that Parts/Service is referring to?

Thanks in advance

If you search, I posted a guide that shows how to add the factory controller to '09s. There is no software update for the '09s, the brake controller will still function, but it will never show up in the EVIC.

Default Looking for Ironsides install guide...

Ironsides, I searched for your installation guide for adding the factory brake controller to a 2009 Ram with factory tow package, but had no luck. I admit my eyes were bleary (it was very late) but I think I looked at all 153 of yours posts. Could you point me to it. The part number mentioned here in this thread (82212548 from moparonlineparts.com) is the one I am considering using.

Thank you in advance.
