Default New part # for tailer brake controller?

I just go my new mopar integrated trailer brake controller and the part number is 68146918AA I installed it in my 2011 1500 SXT with the two harness plugs, but no evic. Hope it is plug and play like the old part numbers. When I first turn the key on it lights up, then goes out completely, unless I press the +/- button or squeeze the slide lever then the numeric voltage indicator lights up showing me the current setting then goes back out in a minute or so. This is with no trailer hooked up of course, won't get to try it with a trailer for a while. Does the above sound like its working correctly?

You need to go to the dealer and have them "enable" it on the computer. It's required.
It should just magically start working. They charged me around $50 for that.

Sounds like it's working to me. It is not required to have the dealer "enable" it, however until they do, it will not show up on your EVIC.

Mine works just fine, and I have not gone in to the dealer to get reprogrammed yet.

OH, I thought you meant it wasn't working on the EVIC. Never mind. Yeah, it should just work when you plug in your trailer.

What's the difference between 56029431AH and 68146918AA?

Most likely it's just the latest revision of the part.

Default Trailer Brake Controller

Funny. I called my local Dodge Dealer Parts' Department and they told me since it was not installed by the factory, that they cannot order if for me and it cannot be installed???
So, I should just order it somewhere else and install it myself???
I have a 2011 1500 RAM.

Man, I'd find a different dealer. How do they make money?!?
They are turning down a pretty good money maker for the dealership.

Yeah, I'd order it and put it in yourself. You'll still need them to "enable" it if you have EVIC and want it to show up there. It's pretty cool to see the amount of braking and any messages from the brake controller.

I had the dealer install mine. Not sure what's wrong with that one.
