I took it to the tire shop in town, so I paid out of pocket. I kind of doubt that there is a 73,000 mile warranty on valve stems Cost about $40 for the stem, kit, balance and remount.

I started my own thread about mine, just so people would go check theirs.

Found both my front tires stems cracked while I was doing my brakes today. When I called the dealer they said $80.00 a piece. I have 7/70 and they said they were covered but I have a $100.00 deductible so it really doesn't help that much.

if you have the sensors rebuilt every time you change the tires you will never have this issue. the rebuild kit is 10 bucks a piece... DO NOT GET A WHOLE NEW SENSOR...you dont need that part. the kit includes a rubber gasket, a new retaining nut which should be torqued to specs, and a valve core. if you ever have this problem take it to discount tire, tell them you have a flat ( which they do for free) and the tpms rebuild kit is included with the free service.

The rebuild kit only replaces the nut and seals, not the stem and mine did get a new kit at around 45K when I got the tires. The problem on mine was caused by the stem corroding inside the nut.

You don't need to replace the whole tpms. Any tire store will have the kit and stem. parts cost is around $15 from the tire store or $8 at the local auto parts store

Bringing this thread back up, I just discovered the same problem on my 2009. Never chnaged the tires. Don't know if the dealer will cover yet.

If you have had a failure (flat or cracked), go to NHTSA and file a complaint. This is very dangerous and a manufacturing defect that should be repaired for free. Especially important if you had a failure while on the road!

200 miles from home and 1 of the original 2 piece valve stems let loose @ 70 miles an hour and cost me a 300.00+ tire , because the dealer wouldn't change all 4 valve stems at once. THANKS DODGE!!!
