Default Front Hitch Receiver on Sport.

I am thinking of putting a front receiver on my 2010 CrewCab Sport. Has anyone done this yet?? Could you post some photos please?

i have one on my 2009 SLT, the one from curt manufacturing. easy install, two bolts just install into tow hook inserts, and have to drill two holes.

i dont think it would be any different on a sport.

only downside is because it hangs down below the fascia/air dam, it is pretty low out front. my hitch rack for cooler and fishing hangs fairly low so i use my cousins which steps up higher. depending on what you want to use it for, you just need to make sure it will clear ground obstacles.

all in all i did it because it was about same price as adding tow hooks i didnt have, and it provides more then just a pull point.

I don't know what I is about Curt receivers but they all hang low now matter what vehicle it is.
When I looked at front hitches for my Grand Cherokee the Curt sat stupid low and same on my buddy's F150. I ended up spending almost double the money on a Warn, but it sits a solid 5" higher...

When I last looked, I only seen Curt Man. one's. I can see by their design on how they would sit. I was going to get one myself instead of buying the towhooks that are too close to the bumper to really hook anything. Plus, if I ever decided to get a winch, I could do what Ole Hammer did and make up a mount for it.

yea... ive thought about making a flip mount for the hitch and bringing it up into the small grill opening like some of the ford ones im familiar with, but it would require cutting a little bit of the chromed metal out of the way. this might be easier to do on a sport model.

hammer, unfortunatly the way the 4th gen is made, no real way to bring any higher without modifying bumper. as it is, i had to notch the plastic out a little bit. I will post a picture later on when i have a moment. the other problem is that 4th gens just sit way to low.

This is the mount on my "laid up" 4.7 HO Grand Cherokee that decided to drop a valve at 102k miles (fun, fun). For you 4.7 owners, I hope you NEVER have to find out just what a b*tch it is to pull a head on these overhead cam engines! Unfortunately, I'm finding out that failed valve seats are VERY common on the 4.7. Every re-manned head ad states "common valve seat issue fixed on our heads".

The Curt has the receiver UNDER the bumper and would kill angle of approach. As I stated, mine sits about 5" higher than the Curt for this vehicle.

I'm considering one of these as well. On the install, you said you tap in to tow hook inserts ... do you have to remove the tow hooks? Also, any chance we could see some pics?!

Thanks

The nice thing about having a front hitch is that about anything you can weld a 2" square pipe to can be mounted up front. I have the winch and the light bar I made (can be seen in my sig) and I made a pretty cool rod holder out of a Hitch Haul for surf and intercoastal fishing. Possibilities are almost endless...

i did not have tow hooks. i think it said to remove, but i dont see why they couldnt be used, must just require some shims and a small amount of modifications.

hammer, i totally agree, possibilities are endless. i also agree i wish it came out like yours, but the only way i see of doing it is to use 1.25 hitch or to cut bumper. main concern with cutting bumper is halting corrosion after doing it.

one of theses days when i have some time i'll drop hitch, use it as a template and weld up my own that fits through there one way or the other.
