2010 chrome problems
I have a 2010 SLT Crew Cab with 55000 km. The truck lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Truck has been on the road since Mid July 2010. I noticed a couple of problems with the crome cladding on the chrome clad rims. On all four rims they are pitted real bad and on 3 of 4 the chrome cladding is starting to peel off. Also on the tailgate, the dodge ram badge, the "chrome" on it is all bubbled and starting top come off as well.
I will admit that I am a clean truck freak. In the winter I probably wash my truck at twice a week, in the summer I clean it up at least once a week if not more.
What should I expect the dealership to do for me? Should I contact the dealership or just call Dodge direct? Looking for some advice and guidance.
Cheers

If you have to call Chrysler direct, the number for customer service in Canada is 800-465-2001.
Honestly man, you live in Canada what do you expect? I don't mean to be harsh, just realistic. I live in ab and my 2010 wheels are doing the same thing, I clean them 1-2 a week in the winter but c'mon they're constantly being blasted with sand and gravel and then covered with corrosive salt.
Don't get me wrong, I hate that my wheels are pitting and peeling but what is the dealer supposed to do about it? Are these wheels intended to remain flawless forever regardless of Conditions and environment they are subjected to?
My best advice is to use a second set of wheels during the winter months and keep the chrome clads out of the elements while in storage
I know it sucks but the roads and salt and sand here are much to harsh in the winter months for any fancy chrome wheel.
Good luck with whatever you do.

rdculus, hell yeah dude, i have to agree 100%...! Thats what i did, i have 2 sets of wheels for my truck. One set stock steely`s for winter, factory clad`s for summer. My stock clads are holding up just fine (for 2yrs) because they are out of the winter elements and stored in my garage. Even if you drive your truck in dirty area`s in the summer, these clads will STILL get pitted because of the quality of the cladding itself. Cladding onto cheap thin plastic covers flex`s as well, making it weak, then they start to deteriorate/break down over time from stones dirt sand hitting them. Nothing is going to stop that. Only fix is a REAL set of chrome wheels... and ALOT of maint.
After seeing how these rims are I'm sorry I didn't just get the 20" aluminum ones instead, lesson learned. Has anyone tried pulling the chrome covers off by any chance? I know a guy who does powder coating and if those could be pulled off and its a nice look underneath could just powder coat the aluminum instead
