Default Ram rear end?

So I have been chatting with a bunch of Ford guys who say they will never switch to a Ram because of the rear end. They all claim that they have seen 3 or 4 rams on the side of the highway with the rear end laying in the ditch. As in EVERYTHING laying there.

Has anyone out there seen that? I know I haven't, but I am curious as to if they are lying or if there are Rams pulling the rear ends out of them. It kinda sparks my interest because I pull a 30' holiday trailer (8000lbs max) Is it just guys who are pulling at 120kms an hour running the tranny too high or what? I mean I am not really worried, cause if it does go its covered on warranty, but its just a curious question for me.

Any ideas?

Not that it helps, but I recently found out my '07 Ford 4.6 Ltd. will need a new rearend (Covered under extended warranty). We don't haul/tow anything with it, hell 95% of the time it's only carrying one passenger. This however had been a known issue, I've just been fighting Ford to backup their warranty, once it's replaced, up "For Sale" she goes.

Of all the complaints I've read here in three years, rear end failure has never been mentioned.
Fords break down too.

Apparently the limited slip rear diff in previous generations of these trucks were problematic. Just search for "C-clip" in the 3rd Gen forum. I had a 2003 with the limited slip but I did not experience this problem however there have been quite a few failures. Not sure if they have fixed that problem over the years...doubtfull!

Let the ford guys think what they want. I'd take my Ram over a F150 any day!

That maybe a reason as to why they're were no available option for LSD on '09 models, or early build '10 models. A gentlemen (member) Dusty here had some good insight regarding LSD problems prior to '09, he may chime in with some input.

I believe Chrysler had a recall on the rear for the Ram for 2010 or 2011, it had a problem with the pinion nut coming loose and several Ram owners dropped the driveshaft because of it.

You should ask those Ford owners about all those transmission failures they are having with vehicles with less than 5k miles on them.

Haha, its not a fight against Ford here, but that's what sparked the question...

They might have had a recall on the 10s then, because there has been nothing on the 11s. Either that or I have not heard of anything. And this problem they are speaking of is not just the drive, its the whole rear end. As axles, suspension, basically nothing holding the rear of the truck up. Now unless these instances are the truck dropping the shaft and taking everything out in its path...

Who in the heck sees 3-4 of anything with the rear ends laying in a ditch?

I think its a little bit of hyperbole.

I have driven from Indiana to los angeles dozens of time... to the keys, to texas and back about a half dozen times also .... all in the last 6-8 years...

I dont think i have seen even one car with a rear end broken off...
