uneven tire wear

Put a top grade* of Michelins on it, rotate at every oil change and there's no reason you shouldn't be able to achieve the rated life of the tires, i.e., 100,000km (*Michelin ATX/MS-2)
IMO Goodyear Wranglers are crap.

Uneven wear (cupping usually) on the factory OEM Goodyear front tires has been a long-standing problem with Dodge trucks for years, as long as I can remember. Your mileage (40,000km/25,000 mi) in my experience is representative of the average. It's much worse if you don't regularly rotate them, i.e., every 5000km/3000mi). I completely destroyed the front Goodyears on my '97 Ram 1500 in only 28,000km/17,000mi by failing to rotate them.

I did not know this at the time, but when buying a new vehicle, literally any make/model, you often have the option of requesting that they replace the factory OEM tires with something else of your choosing. Of course you'll have to pay the difference, which sometimes can be a lot, but that's when you put your negotiating skills to work.
I tend to keep my vehicles until they collapse out from under me, at least 10 years and in the case of my old '97 Ram I kept it 15 years until this past January. I unarguably should have dumped it sooner, but there's huge difference between a clear title and making payments. Over the last 5 years of ownership I averaged spending $1000 a year on various things, still cheaper than a truck note, but it was starting to wear on me.
I bought this one (2010 Crew Cab, 4.7L) in Jan '12 as a lease return w/only 16k on the clock but with a set of Goodyears on it that were more than 50% worn. They were noisey & did very poorly in the rain, so at 20,000 mi I bit the bullet and put the Michelins on it. Discount Tire tried to sell me new TPMS valve stems, but I declined those because I know those typically last 7~10 years. I also declined the "replacement certificates" because they are only good for 3 years & the chance of ruining a tire is usually slim. Out the door incl tax for $1008. They also sent me the $70 rebate VISA card (That was a Michelin promotion at the time, nothing to do w/Discount Tire) so after receiving the rebate my net cost ended up being $938.

Yeah mine have been wearing uneve also but they keep saying they "toe" is off on my alignment. I'm getting my oil changed next week and gonna inquire into some new tires. I've noticed that my goodyears also perform horrible in the rain. I have been putting off the idea of leveling my truck b/c I was unsure if this tire wear issue was something wrong with the truck and didn't want to make it any worse.
