Default 2013 1500 reg cab V6 8speed ?

Ordered it last week and I need it sooner than later. dealership fist said january february, so I pulled the plug, now they are saying first quarter, I know the V6 8 speed was going to be late availability but end of april ! oops.

I havnt actualy seen any on the road or at dealership in this configuration, I thought they were in production last quarter 2012.

Anybody here know if there are specific delays in production, problems etc.
Perhaps someone here works in one of the plants/dealership and knows more.

Thanks

Rhyster,

Delivery dates can not be guaranteed due to many variable factors involved in the lead time of vehicle production and transportation. It is important that high quality standards be met before the release of any vehicle. We realize that longer wait times may cause inconvenience and as such, we attempt to keep these occurrences to a minimum.

When you say you "pulled the plug" does that mean you cancelled the order?

No I meant I went ahead and ordered it, maybe used wrong metaphor.

I realize that it takes time and I dont expect it right now, just concerned because the dealership said january february, that would be eight to twelve weeks and thats O.K. but when I went in to sign the contract they revised that statment to end of first quarter, which could be end of april.

Now I'm just fishing here to see if there are specific reasons for such late availability on the regular cab 1500 V6 8 speed HFE that I had assumed was in production last quarter 2012, saltillo assembly plant.

Do you know if this configured truck is on the production line or scheduled to come on the line.

regards
Rhys

If I recall correctly from an article I read, the 8speed was going to be a late option after introduced into the V8's. I guess they planned on using up left over transmissions for V6's before going ahead with the new one's. Seemed strange because I didnt know the V6's used same tranny's either. It was awhile ago I read that so I could be mistaken.

To me, just seems like they'd shift too frequently. I dunno, never been in one obviously.

My local dealer in N TX said he had some in-transit. I checked is inventory and he has 3 V6s on the way. Looks like you'll be one of the first to have one. You will have to give us a report.

Chrysler is building the V6 and 8 speed automatic to accomplish better mpg numbers, as mandated by the US. Government.

A V6 Ram is a slide in replacement for the Dakota, if you need a hemi, your one click away.

I have no issues owning a v6 in a 1500, Perhaps a 2013 Pentastar Ram will replace my 06 Ram.. Sad that thiers no man. transmisson option..

As far as I know the V6 8speed is already in chargers, so they are making them, they are still offering the old V 6 with the 6 speed transmision in ram, but I opted for this new one because it should be easier on gas in the city, motor shuts of at red light, no more idling. I think the 2500 + are being manufactured in michiigan, they build pentastars there too, and the 1500's are being built in saltilo mexico, which also has a pentastar plant.

To me, just seems like they'd shift too frequently. I dunno, never been in one obviously.
I never drove one either but I guess I will sooner or later, I know in the premium models the display centre will tell the driver what the 8 speed transmision is doing, but the model I'm getting will not.

Thanks.

The manager at my dealership is looking into it now, if he isnt able to give us a definitive answer I will PM you, like I said we know the truck will take time to get here, but if it takes longer than sooner we need to make other arangment lease, rent etc.
