2009 Ram 1500 5.7L - Poor gas mileage all of a sudden!
So far the ones that have posted using a program report decrease in fuel mpg. Evn onthe MPG settings. Your better off using that money for something more meaningful. Diesels benefit greatly and get get good gains from downloads.Gas engines do not.

Thanks hounddogg! I appreciate it. It's hard to figure out what works well and what doesn't. A lot if info in these forums. Mixed reviews. I just want to make my hemi the best it can be on a budget. Perhaps it's fine the way it is Performance wise. My magnaflow muffler cost just over $100 gave me the bark I wanted, yet it's still a quiet loud jusr enough without breaking out $700 for a cat back. And CAI. There's so many. Same thing mixed reviews again. But u figure I have only owned my truck less than a month. I got until next may when camping season starts to figure it all out

i put the SC tuner in my 09CC Hemi. On the 87 tune I gained 2mpg in rural/city driving.
Hi Everyone,
Maybe you can help a brother out. I typically keep an eye on the MPG indicator and noticed this past week that my typical 16+ average MPG is struggling to stay above 12 MPG. I have reset the MPG indicator at various times, seeing it creep up into the neighborhood of 15 MPG, but it's back in the tubes by the time I finish my 16 mile flat land commute from work.
I have read on the Gen 2 forums that the MAP sensor is known to fail, resulting in poor mileage, but have not found anything on the Gen 4 forum pertaining to poor mileage.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I just got the truck and do love it but driving easy around town with a small trailer 2000 pounds total im getting 11.5-12.5 and im a granny driver i feel like this isnt right my last truck (chevy 4.8) was wayyyy better with same load etc should this ram be that bad on fuel? Im running 40psi in tires and air filter looks fine thanks guys for your time!
You should check the dates on threads before posting in them. In case you haven't noticed, this thread dates back to 2012. I would like to think he got it fixed by now.........
its me that is looking for info im still looking for some haha
If your gas mileage took a dump after changing the map sensor..... that's where I would be tempted to start. Not all aftermarket parts are created equal..... If you got the duralast, or something equally as 'low quality', wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't at least part of the problem. (that you have now.....) I would be more tempted to have a look at what the O2 sensors are doing...... They don't last forever.
