Default EVIC issues?

Hey guys the buttons on my steering wheel that control the EVIC electronic vehicle information center have just stopped working. Has anyone else had this issue? And if so any ideas on how to fix it?

Have you checked your fuses?
It may be a loose connector in the steering column asembly

I have the "cheap" info center on the Express and had this happen once. I gassed up and wanted to reset the trip meter and the display was just stuck on that mode. Tried shutting truck off and restarting and nothing? Next morning it was working fine and hasn't happened again???

Yesterday it was raining and the display was just blank? I pushed the buttons and nothing, truck off/on and nothing. Just went to work. Got out and it was fine? It was on a different display than it usually was on so the buttons worked but the display just wasn't showing anything.

Hate to bring it to the dealer for such a little thing but.....

Sorry I wasn't any help but wanted you to know you aren't alone!

Your problem would point to a bad elec connection. Never hurts to use a little dielectric grease on the connection when plugging it back in.

from what it sounds like, this is something I can just unplug and plug back in? Is this connector easy/simple to find? Thanks for the help

If the EVIC is lit up, likely the problem might be a faulty clockspring

everything is working on the EVIC, just can't use the buttons on the steering wheel to scroll up or down or select anything.

Then that would point to the clockspring that LU is talking about. Does your cruise control work?

Unplug the clock spring harness, then plug it back in to see if anything changed.
If it still does the same thing, you`ll likely need the clock spring replaced.

Also, food for thought...
has anyone worked on the truck recently..???
has anyone previously installed any aftermarket electronic items..???
