Default 2012 Ram Sport heater making loud noise!!!!!????

Hi everyone,
I have only had my dodge for about six months and recently this winter i have noticed
a loud humming noise when i have heat on. Even on the first air settiblng yu can hear the noise which is louder than the actually air being pushed out through the vents.
I work out in the firld and use my truck daily. Its getting real annoying having to turn the heat completly off to talk on the phone in my truck. Especially with these canadian winters.
I have spoken with my dealer but know one seems to be able to pin point the issue. If there is anyone who has come along this issue or has heard somebody
complain about this befire could you please let me know as i am a little concerned having a brand new truck that already has isuess that cant seem to figure out.
Thank you in advance for any and all help! Dodge4life

Take it into the dealership and have them listen to it. Over the phone or just speaking with them rarely solves anything, they usually have to hear it themselves.

Moving you now.

If it increases when turning up the fan speed then I would guess it would be the blower motor. It is possible that something may have slipped past the outside screen by the engine compartment or been picked up from the inside recirculation inlet and is rubbing on the blower cage.

More specifics would be helpful.

The noise does becomes louder when you turn up the air so maybe there is something wrong with the actual blower motor. Its more of a humming noise, not anything to do with the air flow as you can also hear the sound of the airflow as it comes out the vents.

Aloy,

Found the following case on the issue. It involves replacing the blower motor.

Case Number: 1224000021
Release Date: 10/08/2012
Symptom/Vehicle Issue: HVAC Blower Motor Inoperative Or Noisy
Diagnosis: Operate the HVAC blower on all speeds. If the blower fails to operate on all speeds or
has excessive noise on any speed, proceed with the following repair procedure.

Hey,

Thanks everyone for the quick input. Much appreciated and just shows what kind of community this is!

Dodgecares- is this something I can show my dealer and allow them to do it and cover the cost of parts and labor?

Thanks again!

It's a reference point for them to start. If you are still under the basic warranty it should be covered. I cannot say for sure it is the issue but if they can't find the cause and have not check for this condition it is a suggestion from other service techs that have run into a similar complaint.
