I agree with this thinking....As the exhaust system thermal cycles, there's got to be some stress transferred to to those screws, as proven by so many repeat problems some trucks are having.

The folks that switch to shorty headers, stop having problems.

Do those headers match up to the stock exhaust pipes or does the whole system need to be redone?

You can get shorty headers that are direct replacements. Only the manifolds change.

Hmmm...I see several brands and a wide range of prices....and mixed reviews on whether they fit or not. I wonder which ones are the better option.

Check the reviews? I don't have any info on which are good, and which are not..... quality vs price? Even the cheapies will last a couple years. (and if you don't live in the rust belt, even longer. )

Hmmm...the whole reason I would consider headers is to not have to monkey with this issue again....If they will eventually go bad, I'm no better off than re-using the cast iron manifolds.

Then spend the money, get a GOOD set of shorties, and be done with it.

Which circles me back to the original question....who has experience with which ones are the "good" ones??? Price alone doesn't answer the question.

Warped Manifolds is what causes the bolts to break. If the mechanics don't either replace or machine the originals flat....they will break again.

Sry...just realized this was an old thread.
