Had physical therapy Friday for my back, and it's near the dealership, so I swung in.

They said it just got done and was ready!

Well, not so fast.

I brought the plow truck home and got a ride back over, paid my 100 buck deductible on the extended insurance/warranty, and went to leave.

Same problem. GRRRRRR!!!!

So, to this point:

New TIPM- was bad

2nd TIPM- Not only was bad, but took out the guage cluster!

New guage cluster and TIPM #3

Test drive was OK, but when I went to leave, same symptoms.

TIPM out again.

Now what?

So far, the Dealer has had my truck almost as long as I have!

OK, not quite, but close! They ave had it for 3 weeks, I had it for 5 before the problems.

Any suggestions?

Time to get FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) involved. It doesn't make sense that all of the TIPMs have the same issues unless something in your truck is causing it. Ask FCA if maybe they can help the dealer out or if you may take it to a different one.

Being that you're in Minnesota...in Winter, I think I would have been pulling connectors apart under the hood and under the front end and looking for some corrosion or water.

SAME symptoms on the 2nd time should have thrown up a huge flag and would have caused a course correction.

Got my truck back today!!

They installed a new TIPM, not a refurbished one.

They then tested it in the cold, left it in the shop, drove it, started and shut it down repeatedly, etc.

They couldn't get it to replicate.

They sent a guy over to pick me up, and I have had the truck for a few hours now, so far so good!

I will keep everyone updated.

I'm very happy this was resolved. Should an issue reoccur, don't hesitate to reach out!

That's good news. Where did they get a "New" TIPM?

@DodgeCares: are there new TIPM's available for 2009 1500 trucks?

Not sure where they got it, but I saw the "Mopar" on the side of the box when I stopped in.

-22*f this morning (only 13 above inside my garage) and no issues today.

Had a couple pf Dr appointments at the VA, and the truck sat for 2 hours (while it warmed up to -10!)

I have a herniated disc, and getting my 1500 back so I could park the 2500 with the plow, is a real relief on my back!

overtorqued,

If you are experiencing an issue with your current TIPM, please PM me your VIN and I can look further into the situation.

I'm currently not experiencing any issues after having the dealer replace it a couple months ago. Let's hope the third time is the charm.

The reason I asked about the availability of new is because my replacement TIPMs all came in a Mopar box with a Mopar part number too. It wasn't until I opened the box was it apparent they were refurbished. Mine all had/have an orange sticker on the top of them stating that a diagnostic print out had to accompany any returns.

If you do run into an issue with this one, definitely reach out to me and I'll try to assist.
