Default Hit A Deer with 5mo old Ram Longhorn

I was on my way this morning to a teal duck hunt when all of a sudden a deer crosses the road, and well I hit it with my 5 month old Ram 1500 Longhorn. I now have to get it fixed, but I want to install a good bumper with a brush guard to protect the truck a little bit more. Do you guys have any good suggestions on companies that make great bumpers for Ram 1500's?

Any Help is appreciated.

Westin makes a decent guard.

+1 for the Westin and similar LARGE and heavy duty guards. Save your money on those mini guards and bully bars. They offer little if any protection against hitting a deer. In fact, i guy i work with hit a deer with his truck with a mini guard and the guard bent back and cracked his grill and dented the hood.

Ranch hand makes some serious heavy duty bumpers and grill guards.

Agreed with others, get a good ranchhand or westin full size guard. Sorry to hear about that, were you alright?

Yea, I'm probably going to buy the Westin grille guard. I'm hoping that it won't interfere with the front parking sensors though.

That deer scared the crap out of me, but nothing serious really happened to me. The truck wasn't totaled so thats a plus. I'm waiting for the truck to get out of the shop later next week.

If i had to pay for a new bumper and a grille guard, I'd spend the money on one of these.

Going to need a 4" lift kit for the front just to support the weight

Lol yeah it is heavy duty, but at least it will hold up to a deer, if it's a moose well then it's gonna be a good battle haha.

I worked with a guy for a bit that had a westin style of grille guard, I don't remember the brand but it was a "cheaper" bumper that basically holds up by 4 bolts or something like that. Well the thing was really flimsy and you could tell where the guard was rubbing on the paint close to the lights, probably from driving down washboard dirt roads. It was on a Ford F-150, after seeing that i kinda told myself whats the point of buying that to protect your bumper, it would probably just collapse upon impact and do more damage than it would without.

I guess the word of advice here is you get what you pay for, and also to look how it is mounted and the effectiveness it will have if you hit another deer. Good lights also help hehe

I went the Fab Fours elite. It's made for the half tons and is great.
