Tailgate drops backup camera quits
Like the title says.
I'm guessing that there is a loose connector or the camera is somehow damaged.
What is the procedure to remove the tailgate latch/lock assembly to either check the connection or replace the camera?
I don't think the problem involves the display unit as the problem started immediately after the partially closed tailgate dropped.

Yeap, sounds like a loose connection, check the connection on the bottom of the tailgate when it is open. Then while the tailgate is down, there are a number of hex head screws that allow access to the inner workings of the tailgate.
I would also suggest the DZ tailgate assist, helps with not allowing the tailgate to slam down and easy to install.
Good luck.

Broken ground wire exiting harness just before connector for camera.
A relatively easy repair once I realized that there was a removable access panel on the tailgate (mine is embalmed in bed spray liner so never noticed it before).
Cost to "analyze problem" at local dealership $156/hour!
Thanks to Bluebeast for the suggestions.
