Default 04 4.7 Swap to 09 4.7

Hello! I'm new to swapping motors. This will be my first attempt. I'm having issues finding out if I can swap a 04 to a 09(4.7). I have two complete trucks. I just need to know if its possible. Looking at the motor I can tell that the throttle, and engine oil fill is different. Is it possible before l waste time looking further into this? Both vehicles are 4.7 two wheel drive trucks. Vin N on 04 and Vin P on 09(8th digit).

are you trying to put the 09 motor in the 04 or the 04 motor in the 09?

the wire harness is different (the 09 has 16 spark plugs and the 04 only has 8) and id make a guess that the sensor package is as well, and that you would need to swap all of that and the PCM with it to have any chance of making it work, as far as physical mounting it should fit, not sure about the trans but cant see why they would have modified the bolt pattern for that.

And then there is the 16 tooth, vs 32 tooth tone ring from the crank sensor...... I don't think this is a viable swap.

Sweet, thanks guys. I bought the 09 for 1000$ and I'm having a hard time finding a motor for it on Oahu HI. Not to many ship here.

not that its relevant to this discussion, but i thought the 16-32 tooth tone ring was mid year 2002 when they switched over to the NGC PCM . . . .

im not sure if it was across the lineup, but 2003 durangos were all 32tooth tone rings, and some (late MY) 2002s, it seemed to coincide with the elimination of the separate TCM on those rigs. (i owned one of the 2002s with that setup), idk why it would be different across the lineup, but ya never know.

You are probably right, and I am just confused.
