Need School Money: Cheap '98 Dodge Dakota - $2,500 OBO...
I am selling a 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport with ~139,000 miles on it. Overall, the truck is in very good condition for it's age and mileage with its usual scratch here and there. Other than the clear coat pealing off the passenger side of the hood, I would rate the outside appearance a 7 out of a 10. The inside is just as clean with some wear, tear and dirt on the carpet. Also, the overdrive button on the gear shift has been broken off but can be spliced back in. I have no reason to turn overdrive off so I haven't fooled with it.
*The Good*
Three new tires
New brakes
New wires
New distributor cap and rotor
New battery
New waterpump
Recent oil change
*The Bad*
Needs a fuel pump.
I was driving my truck to school one day when it shut off out of nowhere. Luckily I was next to a mechanic shop and they hit the gas tank with a rubber mallot and it started right up. I made it to class and back home when the same thing happened again. The diagnosis -- bad fuel pump.
As of right now I work seven days a week and need money for graduate school, so the truck has to go for a cheap price. If it weren't for the fuel pump, I would love to keep the truck around as it's VERY reliable. I've driven to the beach about 6-7 times in it, a few trips to Indiana, one trip to Pittsburgh last year and it has never given me any problems.
From KBB.com, the private party value of the truck is $3,880 and I'm asking almost $1,400 less because of the fuel pump issue, which I think is a fair price.

Thanks,
Corey
P.S. Here are some pictures of the truck:
