I'm telling you it WILL work.Done many. Something's wired wrong. Is there a Blue/white wire on the headunit? If so, it needs to be hooked to that one. Normally Blue= power antenna Blue/White= remote/amp turn-on. But if there is only a solid blue, then that's the right one.
There are both solid blue and blue/white. tried them both. Went to my local car audio shop and we got Metra on the phone. Metra says for the 2004 Ram 1500 w/infinity system, the amp MUST be bypassed. You cannot wire to the amp with a remote turn-on. Other years with the infinity amp can be wired to work, but they say that there is something about the 2004 that does not work. I looked closely at the factory harness and the pin that would connect to the blue or blue/white wire is empty. I ordered the bypass harness, but I will take it all apart and try it again with the remote turn-on.

That just doesnt make any sense. My boss had an 04 with Infinity, and I am certain we didn't bypass that. Maybe it was a hold over 03? I've done tons of rams at work, and I think it's funny that I've never run across this problem. Weird

I just finished reading the Kenwood user manual cover to cover. The last page of the manual has the wiring schematic. The external amplifier control wire is Pink/Black. I was going by the advice found on here and from the separate instruction sheet that came with the factory harness kit (which both say it is a blue/white wire). I'm going to disconnect the blue/white from the solid blue and wire the pink/black to the solid blue and see what happens. I might have an amp bypass kit for sale if this works.

Well that was a waste of time. The pink/black wire hookup didn't work either. I even moved the wire on the Metra harness to plug into the amp power wire on the factory harness and that still didn't work. Aside from bypassing the amp, I'm lost as to what else I can try.

Ive been looking around and it does look like you need to bypass it. That just boggles my mind that I've never ever had a problem doing a Ram up until the 07 which needs to be bypassed. Weird... just weird.
