similiar thing happened to me...but I was using the Metra wiring harness and interface. I needed to bypass the harness w/ either the constant 12 volt, or the ignition 12v. The other thing it was doing is the horn wouldn't beep when I'd lock it w/ the remote, until I bypassed that harness.

I didnt use a harness on mine but I did T-tap my 12+ switched and constant and ground from the OEM harness. If you have no power then it is time to go get your meter and check your harness for power so you know where it is and where it is not. You never do any electrical or installation work without a meter or at least (and dare I say it) test light.

BTW, let me reinterate on what I said about not using a harness. I fully re-wired my whole truck with 14ga wire and not that small 18ga that is stock.

I'm having the same problem, what wire did you use to tap for the Ignition and Illumination wires? I was thinking about tapping the liter...

Talking Crutchfield only way to go for truck stereo's

Crutchfield includes free installation gear. Which includes the wiring harness on purchases over $129. Plus i was able to get instructions for the install of deck and speakers for $6. And free shipping. FYI

Yep thats what it is, It happened to me as well i had to run a new constant wire. that yellow wire in the factory harness. wasnt working so i just ran a new one. I had all the same problems lights wouldnt turn on when open the door, horn wouldnt chime when locking it. Dont know how it happened but it was an easy fix.

that's where I got everything and exactly what I used just to avoid this type of problem...but I still had to break out the old wire cutters and butt connectors.

So, when you disturb the original factory radio harness you mess up the 12V constant somehow? I wish the factory CD player hadn't quit working, then I never would have felt the need to replace it. Oh well.

Thanks for the info!

One more question: if running a new constant will fix the electrical problems, should I still use a Crutchfield adapter harness, and just connect its 12V constant to my new wire?

Thanks again!
