when i first got my ram, I listened to the idiot that owns the local stereo shop. First time I ever did and was the last. I got one of those thunderforms loaded with the 200 Watt amp. Had too suffer with it for a year. So Then i upgraded but kept the enclosure and replaced the subs with JL Audio 10w3v3. Its 1.5 cuft total. I contacted JL directly and they said that its on the outside for size but still acceptable. Was like a night and day shift. Bass hits that the old subs missed repeatedly, these do not. Thats an option. I do have one question to add though. Has anyone used this box(enclosure) with aftermarket subs and used those subs in a different box but the same vehicle. What was your opinion of the difference. When i was designing the system with a shop out of town, i had told him of either using what i had or getting a wooden one(cant remember the brand). He said that the subs wouldnt have had enough air space to hit very low and i would be better off with the box i had. Lost him lik 150 buck, gotta respect that and the fact that he had massive experience with competition systems. Hope that help, and the question for curiosity, sorry so long winded. lol

The box i built does not require raising the seat. I have ~.9cu/ft per side.

What I did was strip the carpet out so the bare metal was showing. I used the floor as the bottom part of my box to utilize the space as much as possible and it saved me extra materials too.
If you are going 10's, I would NOT reccomend shallow subs. They just wont do enough for you IMO. My 10's are just enough to keep me happy as far as loudness and deepness. 10's by far for accurate tight bass.
I doubt db's is what you are looking for since your going sealed. dual 10's for country is perfect.
What subs did you have in mind?
I can email you all the pics I took during my install if you'd like?? May give you an idea of what you will be up against and need for materials. PM me.

yeah dirtydog i read through krx250's build and you had a lot of great info in there. i was hopin you'd chime in here. I'll be going with RF P3 Punch's. Most like 12" in 4ohm along with the RF 500.1 amps

AF... If your interested, I have my old box out of my Ram. It was a custom box made just for my truck, but will just as easily fit in yours. I did have to raise my backseat 1", if I remember correctly. In doing that though, I actually got more knee room for my adult passengers, and the backrest still latched up to the cab restraints.

After getting the box made, I was able to net around 1.9 cu/ft. With it packed 50% with polypac, the sound was tremendous. The box is cut for 10" subs though, sounds like you want to go 12". I still have the subs, crossfire BMF's, but I would like to keep em.

Let me know. I am in Houston right now, and wont be back home till Monday night. If yer interested PM me man.
