I didn't have to go to the battery since I opted for a powered sub so I don't know first had, but chances are your going to have to drill a hole through the firewall then you simply run it under your rug to where ever the amp is.
There was a rubber plug/grommet in my truck that I went through. It's on the firewall under the dash on the drivers side right above the steering shaft. I'll see if I can get a pic tomorrow.
you can also run your power wire under the truck to wherever your putting your amp might be easier than tucking it in the carpet. just make sure you secure it under the truck real good and wouldnt hurt to put in some sort of wire sheathing so it protected a little more. wherever you come in to the truck make sure you use a rubber grommet to protect the wiring against grounding out.
theres a plastic square looking thing on the fire wall battery side i just drilled a hole and fed it thru then sealed it up with rtv....
I did the same. Was very simple. This plastic piece has 1 screw holding it on I believe. Take it off, drill a hole and fish the wire through it. It beats the heck out of any rubber plug because I have always had the rubber plugs get pulled off the firewall because they are too squishy.

I think I saw it. What can I use to fill it in after i get the wire through there, so I don't have a big hole?
