Default Two 15's

As the title says, I have two 15" subs sitting around. Was going to put them in my last car, but that's now not going to happen since I don't have it anymore.

Main question... do you guys think that the stock alternator could pump out enough juice to power my 2400 watt (peak, book, etc. is kind of buried in a box somewhere (currently in the process of moving)) along with headlights, etc. without too much dimming of the headlights or severe draining of the battery?

Yes. Both subs combined.

1200W a piece. I believe they're supposed to be around 400-500W RMS, but I'm not positive and, like I said, the paperwork is in a box somewhere. :-\

I see you have a neon.... Running 1000rms on a stock alt is a decent amount. It should be able to handle it and keep your battery charged atleast for a while, but eventually I think it will kill the alt if you have it cranked all the time. You will get massive dimming at night if you have it cranked. I have about 1200 rms on my rams stock alt(130ish amps) and I get some dimming at night with bass heavy tracks.

Okay, so as long as I don't have them running and playing heavy bass all the time I should be alright? Cool, cool. I just won't have the things going a lot. Hah.

I myself would yes, probably run that setup for a bit till I could get a bigger alt. You can crank it everyonce in a while to show some friends the set up. But if you have it cranked all the time yes I think it will kill your alt eventually. If you have a tach in your car watch it when you have the system on, if the rpm's drop some, you are putting some decent stress on the alt.

No tach sadly. At least it's an auto without one, not a manual without one like my last car. No huge deal, but it just meant I had to pay more attention whenever I had the music up. :-\

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help. Now that I've thought about it though, I think I may just try to get my dad's small amp for the 6x9's he used to have and use those for the ones in the deck, I just have to figure out if he'd part with them, and if so for how much.

Again, thanks for the help.

Going from two 15's to a pair of amped 6x9 is a huge difference....What made you change your mind?

I didn't really change it... see... I never made it up. lol.

What I have in now isn't too loud... at all. And I'd like it to be able to consistantly run just a little louder. Hence, the amped 6x9's. If I put either in though, it'll probably be the 15" because I already have all of that.

why not just put in 1 15 with a perfect sized box with a greatly matched amp which would sound way good than use up a buttload of space with 2 15's and paying a lot more for box and amp which you probably would get not too good of a matched box? wow, i just got back from english class and i'm making run-on sentences... lol.
