Kicker Sub

Kicker Sub
I bought my SRT-4 with the optional kicker Sub woofer. My question is there a volume/bass control of sorts on the subwoofer? In my opinion it does not sound strong enough for a sub wofer, not that I am a specialist in sub woofers but I have heard factory installed sub wofers in other cars that have more bass to them. I just wondered if mine is set very low.

RE: Kicker Sub
There should be a Kicker amp somewhere too. Maybe under the rear deck, I forget where they mentioned where they were putting them. You could turn the Gain up on the amp, but that will cause more distortion. Also, many Kicker amps have a port for a bass ****. Check it out, it should look like a jack that you would plug a phone cord into. Any other concerns, let me know.

i'd actualy be very surprised if it there was any way to set the gain and bass boost on the factory amp, i've yet to see a factory system that you could, even when they are "infinity", "bose", "boston acoustics", etc, they are still pretty much always the same cheapo factory amp with no adjustments and 1 way speakers with a wizzer cone.

When DC announced that it would put in a Kicker system in the SRT-4s, they mentioned that the system was going to be Kicker. Not the radio of course... The sub/amp/speakers were supposed to be all Kicker. Now, I know no one who did the Kicker "Livin' Loud" option, so I have yet to see the system. IF they did use all Kicker equipment however, of course there would be gains/crossovers/etc. on the amps....

well it depends on what the mean by using kicker equipment, my magnum has boston acoustic speakers, they were suposedly designed and made by boston acoustics, boston acoustics is even stamped into the metal on the speaker, they are however just a paper speaker with a wizzer cone, was the same for the infinity speakers and amp my dakota had, paper cone speakers and a tiny little amp with no controls.
now I don't know for certain that that is the case with the kicker sub on the STR-4's, but i'd be really surprised if it wasn't, I really don't get why car companies don't actualy use some good 2 or 3 way speakers though considering that they aren't exactly expensive and they charge you a small fortune for those "premium" factory systems. for example that kicker sub is almost an $800 dollar option for a single 10" sub with I doubt more than a 100-150 watt amp which about what it cost me to put the subs in my magnum which were 2 infinity perfect 12.1 12" subs with a 657 watt infinity amp.
