is the viper coupe going to be able to keep up with the corvette Z06?

The base convertable is $55K and with reasonable options it is well over $65K (Go to the Chevy website and try building one to order). To estimate $75K and up for the Z06 is not unreasonable. Just the aluminum frame and the engine upgrade is worth more than $10K.

i really don't think that the new vette will be between 75 and 85. what i heard was like 55-65. i just can't see them making it cost 25 grand more....even thought they did some awesome work to it.

I'm just quoting Motor Trend (Feb. 2005 issue, page 52). They probably have a little more insight into the auto community than us, the humble posters on this forum. They put it between $75K and $85K and I think they'll be pretty close when all the marketing smoke and mirrors are done with. Time will tell.
If the Viper only changed its Gear ratio to that of the vetts 3.3. The Viper would most likely speed past the Vett..... The 2 biggest difference besides displacement, are the internals. The Viper is very mild in comparison to the vett. 11.0 to 1 compression VS 9.6 to 1. The Vett has to change something every 5 minutes to keep the interests of people, the Viper just does one change while everyone around scrambles for 3 or 4 years......
The vett no matter faster or slower will never been in the status of the Viper.

those are great points....but it would be cool to have to viper go over 200 mph and 0-60 in like 3.5 secs....but yeah...your right
well i believe that making a "v10" hemi would be cool/ but dumb. the hemi has always been a v8 beast, and making it a v10 would be cheating. they should make a whole new engine.
The Hemi design has proven its dominanc the Viper has to have a V10, its part of its image and soul....... I sure as hell dont want to see a DOHC viper, the Hemi is the perfect change for this platform.
yeah i think your right....chrysler is bringing the hemi in most of the other cars....why not the viper?as of now the corvette Z06 is faster so if the viper has a little more horsepower and a little less weight then it would be back on top. so hopefully they do that!
