GM asks gov to Buy Chrysler ******
my problem isnt with the merger..its with the fact that every market analyst has said that GM will just rip off the few pieces of dodge that they want, and scrap the rest of the programs...so we will be stuck with base-rental-trimline-quality on everything that is available after theyve removed all of the good cars keeping their trash from selling.
Well according to autoblog, the gov't isn't going to lend gm the money to buy chrysler. So I'm pretty happy since I'm sure gm doesn't have the cash to buy them, unless cerberus wants to get out real bad, then we are screwed.....

The Viper is looking to be discontinued by Chrysler itself, so we'll say that dies anyhow...
Most of the rest of the vehicles are like you said, base rental trimline quality cars.... and this isnt me trying to bash Chrysler, its the facts...
However, I think what would be the best scenario is the one you suggested, where perhaps Chrysler is done away with....and Dodge remains..... perhaps kill off Pontiac and replace it with Dodge.....and maybe merge Chrysler with Buick...
Jim Cramer (Mad Money TV show host)
correctly says that a GM-Chrysler merger
is a bail out of rich people at Cerberus
that will destroy more than 100,000 jobs of 'regular Americans'
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...16/1148/AUTO01
if Chrysler is truly in dire straits
it would be better for them to go into US Bankruptcy Court
and ask a specially trained judge
to modify any contracts/loans/work rules
in order to save the company
and eventually repay at least a portion of its obligations
.... but this would most likely wipe out the Cerberus money
what is in the best interest of Cerberus
is not necessarily in the best interest of either Chrysler or Chrysler customers
and it is probably best to let a judge sort this out
... that is why we have federal judges and confirm them carefully

IMO,I am just ready to say F it and see what happenes in the future. I do not want GM to get Chrysler. It may as well go bankrupt. GM is not one of my favs anyways, this would just make me want a Toyota before I'd consider them (GM).
"But quality concerns still haunt Chrysler. Nearly two-thirds of its model lineup were below average in Consumer Reports' annual vehicle reliability rankings this year. The Chrysler Sebring sedan was the worst-rated car."
....not my quote, but not surprising.

man, if our Sebrings are the worst then i wonder what the best Chryslers are... we've had ZERO problems with ours. and its been 60,000 miles. no check engine light, original brakes still have over half left. hmmm so if these are the worst then whats the best like?
What you also are overlooking is that you are the minority, not the majority...
