I have been Heraing Rumors that the 6.1 Hemi and a 7.7 V10 Hemi will debut at a Late Summer Auto Show! Has anyone else heard this and could it be true that the 7.7 wil produce 600hp and 650fp Torque????? 6.1 is supposed to be rated at 410 and 500?

I've heard the rumors on the 6.1L Hemi for a few years now, 1998-1999 is around when I first read about it. The new V 10 Hemi is a newer rumor, I cannot remember when I first heard of it. They are both supose to become reality.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Alright, here is the down low on these two rumors... first off the 6.1L HEMI V-8 is not a rumor, but a true fact... codenamed the "440", but Chrysler insiders (not the codename to describe the displacement), but rathier to describe power... not sure if it is the horsepower rating or the torque rating as of yet... the 6.1L HEMI V-8 will make its debut in the Heavy Duty Ram lineup as a optional motor... it will then back the new 2006 Dodge Charger (possibly in a SRT-8 model)... no 300C and Magnum will NOT get it! The 6.1L HEMI V-8, is a true HEMI, not like the 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 found in the Ram and Durango lineup.

As for the HEMI V-10, no one is sure what the displacement will be, but it will be only available in SRT-10 models (Ram and Viper), when the Viper is refreshened in 2007/2008! It will produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 600+ horsepower.

What about the 5.7L makes it NOT a Hemi? What will be different with the 6.1L?

If they make a V 10 hemi... thats like putting mangum on the 03 neon r/t.... there using names from the old days to make money. They should have left the 426 the way it was and now they have the 528 and then new other thing in the trucks...
