Ford and Dodge ready to fight over police departments

RE: Ford and Dodge ready to fight over police departments
I agree, the Dodge is a much more aggressive looking police vehicle, if that's the image your particular Police Department wants to project to the public. It depends on the population you will be serving.......older, more established neighborhoods with above average income families tend to favor the classic cop car look. I can see where in a rough and tumble area one might want to use the Dodge.
As far as the Crown Vic goes, it's been proven to be a reliable and capable unit over millions of police use miles. In it's "cop car" version it has adequate power in not only the engine but to run lights and radios as required. It can idle for hours without overheating.
You can throw all sorts of computers, weapon holders, and radio gear in the front seat and still have room for coffee and donuts. Trunk space is great for stowing duty bags, traffic cones, etc.
I'm not a Ford lover, but the police version CV served me well for several years. However, in the long run, the budget folks decide what car will be bought (AKA, low bidder).

Where i live, Fort Worth, Texas. Our local station got 1 new charger, i see him everywhere now. The main road i drive back and forth on to go to work he is on 24/7. lol. I kinda want to get pulled over just so i can talk to him about the car. Damn its so sexy... i bet the thing halls some major *** to.
But we also have cops over here that have z28 cameros, vettes, chargers now.. and firebirds.

It doesnt matter where you live, the Charger is a good car anywhere...Even in farm country. My city(Pittsburgh) uses 2 dodge Magnums for Parkway patrol...Our parkways circle the city and with open roads with 4 lanes..you can see why they use them, and the storage is a plus too,

From what I've read DC says normal patrol cars will have the V6, with the Hemi option for pursuit vehicles,In Houston the cops run mainly Crown Vics with some Malibus and Impalas thrown in,I think cop Chargers are cool as long as they're not behind me with the cherrys going.

Sorry Ford can’t have a monopoly
Any department or any type
Of fleet needs a change.
And a nice piece of machinery
Should not be justified by controversies
By ford so back down you still got the taxi's
Of New York and many other places.

If the Gov't wants to help Ford, they will stop buying the CV until they offer something that is better than the Charger. If Ford has to actually earn the contracts, they will also make a car that appeals to the American public. Dodge deserves to take over the market for their offering.
