Default 440ci Runs Good until 180°..Help!!

1970 Charger 440ci 4barrel MSD Ignition/coil/ distributor and electric cooling fans

In need of some help guys, I replaced the thermostat and had the carb rebuilt. I start the car and runs great until 180°. After that she starts to cough, hiccup and have to give it a lot of throttle to even keep running. The digital 6AL box and coil are located up on the front fender well by the radiator/distributor. Could it be a heat soak issue due to being close to the radiator? In need of help or suggestions where to go from here! Thank You!

You could try moving them to another location and see if the issue goes away.

Or simply bypass the MSD smart box, see if anything changes as well.

Would be a great idea if the darn thing wasn't pre wired in the car already. But might have to try it

What carb is on it? Choke working correctly? You can put a timing light on the coil wire to see if MSD is the issue but it sounds like it may be starving for fuel. Vapor lock possibly?

So you've done this and it is still acting up at temperature or is this a new issue?
Holley or Carter/Eddy carb?
Vacuum lines on correctly?
Will it run if you manually choke it to the "pull off" state?

Check your electrical connections. Make sure the grounds for the components are solid.

I'll have to look at the carb, and hook up a timing light. There was the steel braided/anodized fuel line we took off because we thought it was vapor lock issue.
Thank You will update hopefully tomorrow if I can get some time to work on it

It's been an on going issue, that why we had the had the carb rebuilt. And over heating bc the thermostat was stuck close. Fixed those issue. We thought it was running crappy due to the carb and t-stat. I will have to look at carb, I can't remember off what's on it. I will.update hopefully tomorrow if I can get a chance to look at it.
Thank You!
