Charger SRT8 Questions
My Magnum SRT8 came with Eagle F1 Supercar tires. Traction seems acceptable, but I can still get wheelspin during WOT 1-2 shifts on good traction surfaces (ESP as fully "Off" as the computer will allow).
I found that running the ESP anything other than Full On with these tires is a bad idea in any kind of wet or damp weather situation (unless you wear Depends). WOT is a bad idea even WITH ESP Full On.
I agree that street legal aftermarket exhaust systems are unlikely to offer any substantial horsepower increase. If you want a mind expanding experience, follow someone else driving an SRT8 in Manual & holding first & second gears to 3-5000 RPM while just cruising. Awsome sound!!!
I will give the intake system some thought. Perhaps I could terrify myself & my passengers even more in damp weather!

I'd have to say that the Mopar CAI does make alil' bit of a difference in the overall pickup of my Charger. It has certainly improved my top end power.
P.S. It's also great for jazzing up the underhood area.

I have the Airaid CAI system, the engine runs stronger and much cooler. It also uses that fully functional hood scoop, a good investement, but don't drive the car in a heavy rain you will injest water through the hood scoop, not good for the car.

I have the K&N 57 series CAI and it is great. As far as plastic vs. metal intake tube, metal looks better but the plastic intake tube dissipates heat more efficiently and gives you a few more ponies. Most of K&N's CAI's are plastic. K&N has been doing this for some time now, so I consider them the experts. It's all personal preference I guess.
Also, I agree, from all that I've read an after market exhaust system is not worth the money on this car. Unless you just want a better sound, the power gains are minimal.

I have the K&N cool air intake, MagnaFlow exhaust, Jet Performance Module, and a nitrous set up. Using 275 tires on the back I can smoke the tires with or without the nitrous. With the nitrous, it is real hard to hook up.

My fully loaded SRT8 is scheduled for delivery in 2 weeks, I have a few questions for those who already have the car (thanks):
1. I am looking at adding a cool air intake. Do you recommend the Mopar unit or the K&N unit? Is there any difference in the sound impact due to the fact that one is metal and the other a plastic? Do they both add about 20 HP?
2. Has anyone looked at the exhaust upgrades or the chip for the car??
Thanks,
Tim

Again, proven by dyno pulls the right exhaust CAN get you significant gains as well. Simply cutting off the resonators and replacing with a nice set of pipes can gain you up to 20rwhp. I know... I did it. I went with the Blastin' Bob's setup (blastinbob@aol.com) and here's how mine sounds:
Startup, Idle, and rev with Blastin' Bob's pipes installed.
Nice long fly-by
Burnout exhibiting WOT, idle, and revving sound
There currently is no chip that does anything for the 6.1.
I have a 4 week old SRT Charger I had the K@N put on it I noticed a slight difference but not that much. I do know that it pulled on my 360 Spider about a little more then a half a car length threw second gear im in love its been a great everyday driver so far i highly recommend this car to anyone. I picked up my 06 for $41,000 with 8 miles on it but im sure there are better deals out there. Im thinking about buying the Jeep SRT for my Girl friend. The SRT is the best everyday car ive ever owned. Im going next week to have my charger lowered and TIS 22 inch wheels put on and the spoiler taken off I want it exactly like the Miami Vice movie car. Does the Factory Spoiler serve any purpose or is just for looks because a lot of factory spoilers are just for looks and I think it looks like **** lol.
I just bought an 07 Charger SRT8 and had a question maybe someone in this group can answer - or if other SRT8 owners are experiencing the same issue. I'm not a grease monkey, but I can turn a wrench and get things done, so forgive me if my question seems silly.
I can't seem to rev (or throttle) the engine without it wanting to flatten out. In other words, I have to push on the pedal very VERY slow;y to bring the engine up in RPM's. If I don't, it seems to just sputter or otherwise not rev up - as if by design or something. The car definitely runs great (at least I think it does) :-).
Any help or explanations would be much appreciated.
