This has been a commonly posted gripe about the AWD models.
Not all of them do it and a good number of times the resolution
has been a professional/proper 4 wheel alignment and 4 new
tires of different manufacterer than those provided with the car.
Tire cupping was another complaint often posted.

 

Have gotten only 500 miles out of 3 different sets of tires and after the stealership screwed up the first alignment, have gone to 2 other places to have it done. On its 3rd set of cupped/chewed to hell tires in a year and a half and no resolution yet, and they're not cheap tires either.

 

Might be why the AWD was discontinued in 09?

 

maybe, but its costing a ton of money and the stealership isn't helping at all.

 

I wish that I had something helpful to add. This is the first that I have heard about this issue. I wonder why an AWD would do this and a FWD would not. My 09 is having no tire wear issues, but it is a FWD. Maybe a different dealer can shed some light on the issue.

 

Our R/T was one the the first off of the line, and we haven't had a single problem with the AWD. Tires are wearing just fine at almost 60K miles now.
The car is a frikkin blast in deep snow as well

 

I too own a 2007 Dodge Caliber R/T. I love my car but have one major issue with it. My tires started cupping well over a year ago. At first it was just the front driver side tire. The dealership rotated them and since then all of my tires are cupped. They are cupping right in the center of the tire. The dealership can't seem to come up with a real answer as to why they cupped. Anyone else having this issue and if so what have you found out and done about it? I want new tires from the dealership and/or the tire manufacturer.

 

Is it an all wheel drive or just FWD? What brand of tires are on it? It is usually one of 3 things that cause cupping. Alignment, soft/bouncy struts, or tire balancing.

 

I just had my 2007 SXT Caliber in the dealer Monday. They replaced front pass strut and lower and upper control arms ball joints,etc... It has 35850 miles on it. The strut had a leak in it. So if the strut leaked and you did not know, that could cause over time for tires to wear wrong. It did the rest of suspention to wear wrong.

 

Yes I drive a 07' AWD dodge caliber. the tires are firestone, factory rubbers, all-seasons that came with the car. The front driver side tire started cupping first and it is center cupping. It looks like I have been driving on railroad tracks and i have huge indents(wear) right in the middle of all 4 tires now. At first it was just the one, then the dealership roated them and they have all cupped since then.
