Real Gas Mileage with automatic
I was read in one article, Dodge Caliber previously offered an especially fuel-sucking all-wheel-drive R/T trim, that option has been discontinued for 2009. The top-end Dodge Caliber SRT4 packs a 285-horsepower, 2.4-liter turbocharged engine under the hood and includes a bevy of high-performance equipment and styling changes.
That was discontinued for 2010. It was the SRT-4 Very fast little car.
With luggage, 3 adults and a lot of idle time in traffic, we got 29mpg on our trip last month.
I have gotten 32 on the highway before with just me in the car. Still getting around 20 in town. I can't complain.

I have been driving my Caliber highway only for the first time since I bought it in Dec. 2009. I've been doing this for about a week or so. I usually average between 26 and 29. I am now averaging 30.2 - I also commute with traffic. I'm just kind on my pedal. It'll probably get ruined when I hit traffic on Monday. If not, I'd like to see how good this can get!
I have a 2007 SXT and I do easily 8L/100km on the highway which is about 29.5 mpg in US units. A bit less in city driving but 75% of my driving is at highway speed. It's all about your driving style. Try to drive with a "hyper-miling" approach! Slow acceleration, predictive stops, i.e. when starting at an intersection and see that the next light is red, don't reach full speed, accelerate only when the next light gets green, that saves gas and brakes!
I just picked my Caliber up Yesterday. It had 8 mi. when I got it. We drove home about 78 mi. and filled it up just to see. It got 31.7 mpg. that is figured the old way. Mi/Gal. Don't give a hoot about the display the one on the Nitro I traded in was never even close, don't know how it works but my GPS was a lot closer than the display. I can't wait for it to get some miles on it to see what happens. it will also soon get a K&N Filter and Flowmaster if it goes any thign like my last three vehicles those two things will work wonders on MPG. Just my 2C. Charlie
Somebody please tell me how to start a thread or whatever all I want to do is start a thing so people can reply to my truck question and im flipping the **** out I've been on this website for over an hour trying to figure it out Ive never used a forum before please help!!
With my 2012 2.0 auto I' getting 32 Hwy 27-28 city. I did get a K&N air filter that helped about 1-1.5. I'm still wondering what exhaust would be best to help even more. Also been looking at some air box mods but still thinking on that.
When I was working at my last job, I was driving 80 miles a day. I drove the wife's 09 2.0 CVT2 and checked the mileage doing the math and it got 35.6mpg driving at 70mph on the hilly hwy.
