I only have 9000 miles on my 07 Caliber and have driven on a few long trips. I have noticed that the gas mileage is improving as you build miles on the car. Since I live in Arizona and travel to California quite often I am getting between 29 and 31mpg depending on which Hiway I use going in and out. If I take 10 in and out of Ca. I can get from 30 to 32mpg at 65mph. If I use 40 and 58 and 5 I get 29 -30mpg at 65 mainly because the part from Mojave to Tehachapi is windy and uphill.

The gas gage sucks but that is another story.....as we all know.....

I just bought a Dodge Caliber 08 SXT with 21,000 miles on it and it seems to eat up gas like theres no tomorrow. I've had volvos all my life and decided to go American (hopefully to work with cheaper parts) but they've all gotten better mpg. Is there something wrong with my car or is it that they eat up gas? I mean I don't drive crazy, I use cruise control all the time, and its been cool enough to not use A/C. wtf

It may be an illusion because these cars have a very small gas tank. Only about 13.6 gal.

My wife works about 7 miles from work, all stop and go as well as warms the engine when cold and it gets 20mpg at each fill-up. If I drive it to work 2 days a week (her off days), which is 36 miles each way, the mileage jumps to 27mpg. All highway, I'm sure would be in the low to mid 30's.

Yes with 21000 on the odo it should enjoying relatively good mpg.
I would assume the air filter has recently been changed and that tires
are at 32-36 lbs.My SXT 2.0/CVT gets abt 26 mpg US city and on
cruise at 65 mph has had as high as 34 mpg US hiway.
If you check the exhaust tip you will probably find it black,
don't be too concerned abt that as Calibers all tend to run rich.

Default Gas Mileage

Well I bought my 08 SXT on Feb 2nd. Just had my second fillup today.

1st tank 27.7 mpg

2nd tank 27.5 mpg

The old wore out Honda I traded in wasn't getting any better, and I like my Caliber better. (Except the Honda was paid off LOL)

Very pleased with my mileage.

I hope we do, ours only has about 4000 miles on it now. Been trouble free so far.
Ours came with 17" wheels. They fill out the wheel wells nicely too.

Well I will post my MPG consumption at the end of the month but it’s got to beat my old 4.3l chevy S-10 it was getting 8-10 MPG. I will be going on a 7 hr trip soon and plan on checking my tank every stop. The car already has 40k on it so I don’t have to do the breaking in.

the caliber is a 07 SXT auto
