Hi, I'm considering the purchase of a 2006 Grand Caravan SXT. (I've spent a few months researching and driving a number of vans)

Is there anything I should watch out for? Any "common" problems with this year and model?

I've noted that 2005's have a bcm(?) issue with power locks, but I haven't seen that with 2006's. I seen posts about power sliding doors problems (wiring). I know that there's a wiper motor recall on some 2006's. But other than that I haven't noticed anything major that appears common.

I had the torque converter replaced at 6000 miles on my 2007 GC SXT. The issue seems to only be with the 2007 model year though, Chrysler made some changes to the transmissions in '07 and some torque converter were bad from the factory.

 

ouch! I'm glad it was under warranty (right?) ...

Anyone else?

 

my parents had to replace the trannyaround 36,000 miles it cost 2000 to fix apprently they didn't get the 7/70 warranty instead got 3/35 in trade for for a bunch of incentives

Thanks ... that's good to know. I thought it was strange when I saw several 05+ window regulators for sale on eBay ...

 

I'm still looking for common problems. While every car could have anything be an issue, are there "common" items that are a problem with 05-07 caravans?

Yeah the bushings seem to be a common problem but are cheap to fix. The trannies are as good as anyone elses now if you do the scheduled maintenace on them . Motors are generally bulletproof . We have a 2004 and a 2007 and so far no major problems with them other than a EGr vlave on the 2004 , this seems to be a slightly more common problem also.
