Default Rack and Pinion issues

I took my van to the shop today and was told that my rack and pinion system is leaking and needs to be replaced. I was wondering if knows of any particular causes or manufacturer issues with that unit. The van is an 05 Grand Caravan

I would get a second opinion as being 2-3 years old doesn't sound right for it to be leaking not that it is impossible but not very common are you losing PS fluid? might be coverd under the warranty depends on the milage

Do you still have powertrain warranty? If so its covered. And yes its a common problem with the mini vans.

its not uncommon. i know they are on back order at the dealer. hopefully they are changing them so they don't leak.

How hard is that thing to get out on an '05? Mine's not leaking, but I think the innner tie rods are getting loose.
