Okay you made your point, the members on this forum are not sevice techs and don't have the money to throw into scanners or the tools that you have or me.Thats why the members are asking for some help with the problems they are having. What do you do for a living? Because i am a master tech with chrysler.

but really if the man wants to fix it right he's really gotta have the right tools. i mean look start throwing parts at it without having enough information. i'd hate to go to a doctor with a broken arm and they didn't have an x-ray. why not go to one of them trans shops and have it scanned even if it costs a little that could greatly increase the probablility to fix it right. it seems like the guy wants to fix things himself why wouldnt a scanner be crucial to the old tool box? it isn't like a tool you'll only use one time and never again. and even so, he could buy like a old snappy brick use it once and sell it again probably recooping ever penny spent. like when i moved, it was going to cost a couple grand for a moving company. i bought an old uhaul truck for 3500, moved and sold the truck for 3500 all it cost me to move was about 400 for plates, fuel and sales tax. i'm just trying to offer a solution to a problem that works quite well. i'm ase master certified but i work as an industrial maint tech. it pays a lot more and way better working conditions. plus i dont have to deal with customers

Mastertech. yes I did get your PM thank you.
Shelby. there again what you are talking about I could also buy a crappy used car for. and tech is right thats why i came on here. Shift solenoid is a very common issue it seems for symptoms of my nature so it will not hurt to have the new part on there.

it is very common... hmmm i dont think so. i'll pm you with the facts. and i went on ebay and found dozens of snappy 2500 scanners sold for under $300 but hey i'm trying to help you the right way and not the throw parts at it way which always costs more money, more time and way more frustration.

Solenoid pack replacements is a bit of a racket, I think. Yes, they can leak but sometimes that fluid is leaking through a faulty gasket ($5.00 item) or from the cooler line fittings (tighten the clamps). The gasket and the fittings are common sources of leaks and can be ambient temperature dependent (leaking during cold weather when materials contract). I know of a solenoid pack leak that occurs when the weather is below freezing or thereabouts but stays absolutely dry during the summer months. I am sure there are many transmission shops that would like to replace that solenoid pack, but maybe a gasket replacement is all it needs.
A mechanic showed me where they usually leak (using a new one) and its in a black colored portion that looked like plastic but I think is is painted white metal or something similar.

1hr 4 min from your last post you finally did what was recommended from not only me but the BEST qualified guy on the board said what you needed to do. after all the hostile and belittling pm's you sent me and all I wanted to do was HELP. sorry for offering any advice you made it impossible to actually want to help you. i had all the diagnostic informaton deleted that i posted. i put forth a lot of time and effort to help you and even called on a favor from a racing friend of mine in greenville, SC. i'm sorry for offering to help you using the correct methods of diagnostic repairs. i'll be more selective in whom i help in the future.

Enough!

Just because someone doesn't want to do what you or I want doesn't mean one needs to result to bewildering excessive off topic posting or PM's to handle an issue. You aren't god and nobody is really THAT good to diagnose anything especially over the web without being there in person not to mention most people aren't as certified as you or I am.

ok. so I had the shift solenoid replaced yesterday. driving home from the shop it bumped into second gear limp mode at a dead stop. so I turned back around went back and pulled codes still popping up with the 41 code. mechanic cleared the computer. even drove it around with the computer attached to the port to see if it did anything drivng. he came back said it was fine and I drove home no problems. get up this morning and driving to the gas station it did the same exact thing on me twice. bumping into limp mode at a dead stop. this is realy frustrating
