Default 2002 Caravan Air bag light On

I live in Canada and have a 2002 caravan with 88,000 kms on it. The other day the airbag light came on.I did a search and some of the posts talk about a clockspring. If i do a fault code check will it tell me, i need to change this part, and if so how hard is it too change?

Thanks
Rick

Its not that bad to replace, if you have a driver side squib open. Does the horn blow or the speed control work?

I checked the horn and speed control and they both work fine, so maybe its not the Clockspring gone.

You need to have codes pulled from the air bag module and post. It could be any number of sensors or squibs.

May I ask where the Air bag Module would be located?

the air bag module is the thing right infront of your face that you push on to make the horn blow and when you hit something it explodes and slams you in the face. For safety concern, you MUST get it serviced. When the light is on, the bags are non-functional and you are jepordizing you and your passenger's safety.

When you say you need too pull the codes from the Air bag Module.. does that mean you just plug a code reader into the Van's computer. or is there another one for the airbag.

This is my first car with a airbag, so i don't know that much about them..The risk factor is low as we put on 12,000 miles in 3 1/2 yrs , we don't drive too much, but i suppose anything can happen..

a code reader is totally useless beyond engine driveability issues. So to answer your question, No, you just can't plug in a code reader into the engines computer. I can't believe this is your first vehicle to have an air bag. you've never owned a vehicle newer than 1994 until now? That's increadible. since your making the statement that risk factor is low, then just put a piece of black tape over the light and ignore it. Then you're no worse off than all the vehicles you've had before this one.

The SRS module is either behined the consol on the floor, middle of the dash or under one of the front seats. The SRS module is what you pull codes out of.

MY last car was a 1990 dynasty and i had it tell 2006. it didn't have a airbag in it..So yes this is my first Vehicle with an airbag.. As the risk factor is low, there is always the chance of something happening as you know, so i will get it checked.

Thanks Rick
